that's slightly more than I'm gonna be making, except I'm full time. :salute:

last recruiter that called me (mind you this is after I already have an offer in place and they wanted me to do similar work like what I'm going to do), I told them I wouldn't consider working for less than $60/hr. I just threw out an astronomical number in order to see how serious they were.

also, if you're not gonna pay me benefits, I need to get paid a whole lot more to make up for that.

That tactic works often. Cuz when your at that level there's very few qualified and available candidates to fill that role. So you can strong arm them a bit of pay rate.

I ask for the max every single time. Then negotiate from there. Always negotiate vacation and holidays, even if you got to take about 3-5 dollars a hour off of your salary. It's worth it. Because when you got holidays, you won't get paid and vacation days are critical. You want em especially when you got a family and even if you don't.

I have ALWAYS been able to negotiate salary from employers. but the last few times, I couldn't negotiate vacation days. they flat out said "no" when I tried to do it. vacation days aren't a deal breaker for me, but it's kinda curious that they're willing to pay me more money but not kick in an extra week of vacation which would actually cost them less than to pay me more.

It's simple, some treat their contractors like slaves. I like when companies work with the contractors. I had it in DC where I didn't get any vacations but I was able to do WOH often.

This is why I don't do contact work. And I don't particularly like consulting for the same reason. Clients will treat u like a paid slave.

This and some lie a lot. That said, a lot of them are honest

I got that treatment when I worked in Houston and also when I was first starting out. Now if I get a contract it's actually pretty chill.

My degree is in economics. Don't waste time on degrees, they value technical skills and experience. I rarely get asked about my degree.

Breh who put me on had business degree and was senior database programmer making 120k a year. He was in IT for 5 years at the time. His break room had a PS3 and ping pong table
:takedat:
I was working on and off making 14/hr at the time so I went all in when he explained things to me

Can you maintain our network? Can you code java well? Skilled enough to be a server admin?

That's what they care about
:yeshrug:
what kind of buisness degree did he have if you dont mind me asking? Bachelors? Masters?

IT is a hustlers dream. Learn quick, pick up skills, exaggerate your resume and you can eat well. Always question more experienced brehs as much as you can.
IT: The GOAT finesse career. :wow: Companies (especially small) have no idea how to py when it comes to IT, so they usually overpay. My homie was 20 making 52k as a system admin. And he was on Facebook all day.:wow:
