Wherever whores go.....
:snoop: You exposed you didn't even know WTF you're talking about to begin with.

Higher resolution ALWAYS looks better at the same screen size
Why would content look worse with higher resolution?:wtf:
IMAX is like 12-18K :wtf:
That's like me saying SD looks better than 1080p
Why are you this ignorant?

When it comes to home theater, stay away from the cutting edge. There's a bad audiophile community driving new features. These are those 50-60ish 6 figure dudes with money to burn and they don't give a fukk on what. No point in building your setup around shyt you can't get use out of . Look at 3D TV. People went out and refinanced their houses for that shyt now you don't hear a damned thing about it.

The only thing is the TV suffers from massive judder looking at the YT review, but I'm guessing that's something you have to live with to get OLED piff at such a low cost. Also, I'm weary at such a good price. It's probably a white box - refurb like the fakkits at buysquad.com do.

After this thread and reading a shyt ton on rtings/avs forums ... I think I'm gonna cop a 2014 - 1080p TV set before they sellout. It might be the last year 1080p sets got the best panels.

It looks like the big names have basically put all the good panels into 4k sets and 1080p sets moving forward won't really be that great. This actually is gonna be really bad for the next couple of years if this trend continues with 4k sources like 4-8 years out.

In the 55" range ...

The 2014 Sony 800B series got higher ratings on rtings.com and has a lower input lag time than the 2015 Sony 800C.

Same thing with the 2014 Samsung H6350 vs. 2015 Samsung J6300, plus they moved to Tizen for the "Smart" features :scust:

I read about that and the fix was turning off some picture processing to get it to stop. I saw the fix on some review site.

Why buy a product with very little to no content?

Thats like buying an xbox or PS with only one game to play.

Like others said, cop a 4k tv only if ur gonna use it as a monitor.

:dahell: I don't understand WTF you're even saying. So I'm a repeat. 1080p, 1080i, 720p, & SD content look better on a 1080p TV than on a 4K TV of the same size.

720p & SD content look better on a 720p TV than on a 1080p TV of the same size.

SD content looks better on 480p plasma/LCD TV (They don't make em anymore) than on a 720p TV & especially a 1080p TV of the same size.

Also an IMAX film negative might be up to 18K, but when shown at legit IMAX theaters the IMAX film print is basically 8K.

Just imagine all the people that bought 4k tvs the last few years that aren't hdcp 2.2 compatible. What a waste of money.

All the top of the line tvs are manufactured in 4k ...the lower tier 1080p counterparts don't look better (I'm not talking oled)

The Sony W900A has better colors on it than most of these 4K sets out here. I'm still pissed Sony only used that version of Triluminos on that single year on two sets the 4K X9004A and the W900A and dropped it after that. It must have been expensive as hell.

Well, I already bought my 4K TV. I love it, love it, love it. Since I'm about to move into a new house I might get something bigger in a few years but for right now this is it.

Most of the non Sony 4k sets maybe...that shyt ain't better then my xbr 850a (best version of the triluminous I'm aware of)...what I'm saying is Samsung 9 series looks better then a 6. xbr's look better then the bravia non xbr etc.

The best version of triluminous is the quantum dot version and they used it in one year (2013) and dropped it the following year. The only TVs I know that got it were the XBR X900 series (55 and 65 inch models) and the W900A (55 inch model only). The W900A didn't get the XBR model number because the previous year was the last year Sony put XBR on any set that wasn't 4K.

I'm still mad cause at the end the W900A's run could be had dirt cheap at about $1000 and I only bought one of them. It's the best gaming TV ever made with a 19ms input lag at 1080p with the quantam dot triluminious. the XBR X900 had over twice the input lag at 40ms in fact all the XBRs that year had double the input lag.

The problem with 4K is the specs were still being ironed out while manufactures were putting out 4K TVs so if your 4K TV doesn't have HDMI 2.0 ports with HDCP 2.2 then it's pretty much garbage because with the new 4K Blu-Ray players hit those pre-2014 sets won't be compatible.
That's locking users out of a decent amount of content designed for the TVs they have. Most of them aren't 10-bit panels with HDR and WCG either.

Xbr 850a is the same as the xbr 900a sans the corny speakers and guerilla glass and from what users say on the avsforum a lower input lag and one hdmi 2.0 input from 2013(it dropped after the 900 probably cuz heads didn't like the speakers on the 900a) And my tv does 12 bit so assume the newer ones do to :yeshrug:

Edit: You meant decoding 10bit encoded files...I don't think my tv can do it. Those files tend to have flac audio which my tv nor blu ray player can decode so not 100% sure which is the cause or both

Reading up on AVS and it looks like the 900a is gonna end up being the best 1080p LCD ever since the generation is basically closed (panel tech going to 4k) and the next year (2014) is when the Smart Tv bloat become a priority and not panel quality.

Were there any other models to note in the 2013/2014 era? I'm trying to find the "last of the best" but you can't find 900a's anywhere and I might get stuck with getting a 800b since it's basically the most decent that's still kinda available at some spots.
