Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas - IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (34-0, 23KOs) will have to wait a little longer for the opportunity to face Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) in the ring.

Brook made the first defense of his IBF world title on Saturday night at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, where he dropped mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan four times for a TKO in four.

Following the match, Brook and his promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, called for a fight with Khan on June 13th at Wembley in London.

That won't happen, says Khan. The Bolton boxer is planning to return to the ring in late May. The opponent and network has not been finalized. Khan is already in the United States and training for the planned return with his coach Virgil Hunter in California.

"I'm fighting at the end of May. I don't think I can fight on June 13th. I mean, I think they are trying to make the public think I'm scared. I'm not scared. I'm the only fighter who's fought anyone and never refused any fight. That fight will happen, but right now I'm taking a different route. I'm focusing on the likes Pacquiao, Mayweather...that level. I want to fight the elite guys in this sport. That fight [with Brook] can happen, but not yet though," Khan told BoxingScene.com.

When floyd said khan name holds no weight back in December, if that was me I would have been trying to fight brook to get that IBF title ASAP.

And put the UK on his back. I mean really his foreign fanbase is the only reason he's gassed on himself and thinks that provides Floyd a reason to care. Had he fought and beat Brook, took the IBF strap, and declare himself King of England or similar, Floyd might have made a different choice.

Still, I'm glad things worked out how it did. I do think Brook coming to America and handling Porter effectively is more important than Khan's wins on Collazo and Devon. Since hookin up with Virgil, he still doesnt have that definitive win yet IMO that would demand folks take notice. He made the mistake first time in not fighting Devon, and now Brook is beggin for that fight and he wont do it. I think he's fukkin up again, unless Broner falls through, or Cotto( rumors but he's a Roc boy now, Haymon might not play nice).
