We still shouldn't deprive people of life-saving healthcare just because they're in prison. The 8th Amendment declares that we shouldn't impose cruel and unusual punishments, and denying critical healthcare to incarcerated individuals amounts to exactly that. And it is their job. The government assumes the responsibility for the welfare of ALL of the incarcerated, whether they're in state or federal prison.
