They need to send a box set of breaking Bad out on a satellite in space so aliens will know our creative impetus when this planet turns into a wasteland.

The real TV people didn't like that and they did complain...
Traditionally, a show like TD is considered a Mini Series not Main Drama. It was supposed to be a one time 8 episode mini series but it got so much buzz, HBO & people at TD decided to put it up against the big guns (BB, Mad Men, GoT, etc). They also put Matt & Woody up for the main acting awards also when in the past they would be up for Mini series awards. The regular TV people didn't think that was fair since Matt and Woody were automatically going to get nominated, taking 2 nomination slots and they only did 8 episodes with a start, middle and end. The regular actors are in tv series that have been on for years and still going. Matt and Woody were going to show up for one year, win all the Major awards and go back to movies. The real TV people didn't like that and they did complain which i think lead to TD not winning anything...
if they put TD in the drama category then Fargo should have been included....
Usually 13 episodes but shows like Newsroom are not "mini-series". They are regular shows that will come back next season in the same form more or less until they are canceled. TD with Matt & Woody was a one time thing...Aren't most HBO dramas short though? The Newsroom went 10 episodes and 9 episodes in each season respectively. I'm pretty sure it was put into the drama category too.
Emmy Judges = tv peopleThat isn't entirely accurate. The Emmy judges themselves were kinda looking at "TD" like because they got into the drama category (not mini-series) on a technicality. I mentioned this like a month ago:
