Source: Bulls Will Pursue Nash, Kidd In Free Agency
Jun 03, 2012 1:51 PM EDT

Chicago will make a run at Steve Nash and Jason Kidd in free agency, according to a source.

C.J. Watson filled in admirably in place of an injured Derrick Rose in the postseason, but the Bulls are expected to look to upgrade at point guard during Rose’s absence.

Rose is walking with a soft brace after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left ACL and is hoping to return by next season’s All-Star break.

humphries is pretty decent, he's going to be making a decent dollar this free agency and i think thats going to be more of the issue. people think he's going to be asking for $10 million a year, but i think its going to end up being more

Hmm. Sounds like a completely different team if either of those two dudes are running the point instead of Rose.

any chance lakers get batum?

no the lakers have no cap and a bunch of other teams will overpay for Batum and the Blazers will most likely try to match, but a bunch will try to overpay for him. The Lakers should look at getting FA like Nick Young, Sam Young, or JJ Hickson. Lakers can't sign any really good or great players by FA, so the Lakers are gonna trade Pau, and would try to trade Bynum too.

Dallas has a Plan A, and due to the super-tax, it has a ‘Plan Powder-Dry,’ too. But spending big beyond Deron remains an option. NBA sources tell DB.com that if the Mavs can’t get him (and maybe even if they do) a top secondary target will be Pacers RFA center Roy Hibbert.

Also, don't be surprised if Bulls make run at Nick Young (Clippers) and Carlos Delfino (Bucks).

While the front office may seek out minimum-salary veterans at several positions, including point guard, a source tells CSNChicago.com that the Bulls will take a run at future Hall of Famers Steve Nash and Jason Kidd in free agency, trying to convince the former All-Stars that they will have an opportunity to win a championship, of which Kidd has one, from last season with the Mavericks, and Nash has none, in Chicago.

According to the same source, the rest of the team's "core"--starters Rose, Deng, Hamilton, center Joakim Noah and power forward Carlos Boozer, as well as reserve big men Taj Gibson and Omer Asik, the latter of whom is a restricted free agent this summer, though the Bulls are likely to match any offers for him from opposing teams--is "safe," though team management will surely at least listen to trade offers. Brewer is the least likely to return, as rookie swingman Jimmy Butler is poised to fill his role, while Korver, despite his long-range shooting being such a needed asset on a team mostly lacking that quality, may have too high of a price tag for a team trying to avoid the league's luxury tax.

It’s not totally out of the question that Garnett returns to the Celtics. He wouldn’t have to learn a new system, deal with a new coach, new city, all that. Besides, the Celtics will have plenty of room under the cap to give him a reasonable salary, say $10 million. With Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo, they’d be a 45 or 50-win team. There are other possible landing places as well. Maybe the Lakers? Garnett has a home in Malibu, and the Lakers have Kobe Bryant. What they don’t have is cap room, but that can be resolved if they agree to a sign and trade for Pau Gasol. The Lakers desperately want Gasol’s contract (three years, $60 million) off the cap and tried to trade him last summer. The Celtics, with only Pierce and Rondo making decent money, could take Gasol, although that would likely prevent them from re-signing Brandon Bass.

Its impossible for anyone to take either Boozer or Amare, but if one team would take one of their contract's, I actually think they would talk Boozer instead of Amare's due to all of Amare's knee's and recently injured back, plus ain't he the $100 million dollar man? The Lakers would want to trade Pau to the Bulls, and we would want a deal centered around Deng, with someone like Taj Gibson, and someone else like Korver or CJ Watson or someone, but the Lakers aren't going to touch Boozer's contract at all. Maybe a trade for the Wizards for Rashard Lewis? lol I don't see anyone trading for Boozer, sh!t how about trading Boozer for Charlie V/Ben Gordon in Detroit lol?
