Remote. I am remote and the onsite option does not even take into account the commute, traffic and transportation costs without even adding the wasted empty time at work. It would have to be much more to make it even a choice, because once you actually get a true remote job (not one where you have to be glued to your chair and monitored) you will never want to go back to the office.

I'll put in my 3 days. That gives me enough time out of my house so that I'm motivated to utilize my 4 days when I'm off. I'd work Tuesday - Thursday. Gives me Friday - Monday to hustle on the side.

Why are you assuming fully remote means staying in the same city?? There is nothing in the question that says you must stay in the same city, it says fully remote, that's it.

Because it's a loophole and makes the decision lopsided and not even up for debate. Take the $125k and move to backwater arkansas to make up for the $40k while the person making $165k is stuck in expensive ass San Diego.

Both salaries should reside in the same city. Only the money and commute should be taken into account

eating out is optional but commuting to work 3 days a week should not be a $40k a year expense

These mufukkas are too stupid to plan ahead and wonder why they are broke. I'm not talking to the people who genuinely understand they missing out, just the dumbasses

$125k is $88,000 after taxes
$165k is $115,000 after taxes. $27,000 extra

Let's theoretically say you take the extra $27,000($2250) and put it in a high interest savings account

According to this calculator, you'll have an extra $500,000 after 15 years. $2k/month vs $4250/month

And that's a BASIC savings account.
