This deal had to happen after losing Jake.
Money ain’t the issue at all here. Everyone in this thread would’ve given Jake 40-45M for 2/3 seasons. He was offered FIVE years at less per and chose the longer term. Total business decision.
43M is a lot of money but we have it and we have a window to win. Giving Verlander 2 years with 3rd option is PERFECT as a next option given what happened with Jake.
Let’s resign Bassitt, Nimmo and some bullpen now.

Need that Nimmo signing and then from that point on, they can go with the no QO offseason, especially with Turner off the table. If they don't want Bassitt for some reason, I'll be fine with that. Get the best of both worlds. Competitiveness (short term value) and the draft picks (long term value).
