Bellinger sucks ass but I got a feeling he’s going do better post dodger career. I would take a chance on him.Who do people think the Mets should target via trade or free agency if Nimmo goes elsewhere?
I don't think the Mets should move Marte back to center so I think the Mets should go with one of two options
Option A: Sign Bellinger. The dude is young and it'll be a one year contract. Sign somebody else with him who can play a little left field maybe and/or a corner infield but who is much more of a DH bat and/or spend that money bolstering the bullpen.
Option B: Same as Option A but instead of signing Bellinger, trade for a good defensive centerfielder that won't cost much prospect wise. Trading for Bryan Reynolds or somebody like that would cost too much. Alvarez and Baty ain't going anywhere.
Side note: Mets fans gotta cut it out with the trade for Ohtani talk. He's gonna be a free agent. Trading for him would be stupid af.
Yea I'm only suggesting him as an alternative to Nimmo cuz he's at least young and will at the bare minimum be good defensively and whatever money you were going to spend on Nimmo for 2023 you allocate somewhere else. Still prefer Nimmo by a lot.Bellinger sucks ass but I got a feeling he’s going do better post dodger career. I would take a chance on him.
Marte will always be a right fielder to me cause he still has the arm. We really do need nimmo back anything else is a downgrade imo. And of course degoat y’all keep saying rodon but I don’t trust it he just started pitching good which started in the Covid season…I could/probably be wrong.Yea I'm only suggesting him as an alternative to Nimmo cuz he's at least young and will at the bare minimum be good defensively and whatever money you were going to spend on Nimmo for 2023 you allocate somewhere else. I see some people suggesting Marte in center if Nimmo leaves and I just don't see it. He's already a little injury prone and is getting older. I'd rather have him in right like he was this year. They honestly managed him pretty well. He really only missed significant time due to being hit by a pitch. I know he got surgery this offseason for a core muscle injury but he was at least able to manage that and still produced. I can see him being in center getting hurt, missing time and since you didn't really sign a CF, you're looking for another and/or putting a weaker defensive CF like Canha in center or somebody who's even more of a bench player.
