Reading this thread made me realize that I never watched or thought about this movie since I saw it at the theater in '09. :dwillhuh:

I watched it for the 3D - enjoyed the experience - and then completely forgot it existed. I don't hate the film, but it has the least replay value of any hyped/successful film in my lifetime...and I really don't know why :dwillhuh:

LOL that's literally 99% of people that saw it.

I'm not talking about the 3D technology in theaters that came after, that's a totally different thing.

Literally nobody talks about Avatar. It was just some movie that had cool effects years ago and that's it. TDK came out the year before and still has hype around it til this day.

Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time:gucci:

Avatar was one of those movies people just started shytting on as a meme without ever seeing it; probably because of all the hype it got. Was it Star Wars? No but a good entertaining movie. Look forward to the sequel.

This. Whole thread is a bunch of "I don't like it, so the world doesn't acknowledge it" reality warping.

No movie is making almost 3 billion dollars without a looooot of people loving it, and seeing it multiple times :comeon:

I still dont understand how the first one did so well in the theaters. It's just OK? Like it was a cool movie that teachers put on in school when there wasnt shyt to do but that's about it

We're people just so into 3d or something?

It was an “event” movie. New shyt in the world. It’s not often you get that level of new shyt. New stories, new tech, new level of 3D. You had to watch it to stay current.

Only missed the greatest 3D film experience of all time. I pity people who didn't see Avatar in theater in 3D. I saw it like 5 times. Most immersive film I've ever watched easily.

Yea I’m one of the few that didn’t see the first in theaters. I peeped like 40 minutes of it once…they had it on the screens while I was donating plasma :mjlol:

I don’t wanna see 2 without fully watching 1

I don’t wanna see 1 unless they re-release it in theaters (in 3D) in anticipation for 2

the “gimmick” was the technology used, which they waited to be invented before making the movie.

Seem like the new “gimmick” once again is waiting to use technology that had to be invented in order to make these movies which were all shot back to back to back.
