Nothing here disproves what I posted. "All N My Grill" and "She's A bytch" still performed better than "Beep Me 911" from the previous album. Not only that, but "The Rain" is tacked onto "Sock It 2 Me", which was Missy's biggest single before "Hot Boyz" dropped.

It supports what I'm saying regarding the album flopping prior to being saved by the Hot Boyz remix.
The 1st and 2nd singles off the 97 album were hits. Big hits.
The 1st single off the 99 album was not a hit. The second single was a minor hit at best. The album wasn't selling well in 99 and hadn't even gone gold in approx. 5 months.
The album was flopping and then got saved by a remix.

It doesn't support what you're saying.

1) Only "Sock It 2 Me" from the '97 album was a big hit. "She's" performed better than "Rain" on the rap charts. The only place where "The Rain" performed better was the R&B/Hip Hop charts. That doesn't make either single "big hits" by any means.

2) You have no proof that the album wasn't selling well in 1999. It had a slightly better first week than her debut. Without comparing the numbers from week to week between albums, gold/platinum certifications =/= actual sales figures. You're smart enough to know that this album didn't sell 500K-1million copies in two months without having a massive increase in sales that would've been record setting/breaking that far into the album cycle.

3) There's no way to say it flopped when singles were still being dropped.

How old were you in 97?

Of course there is. There is flopping and there is flopped. You're being purposefully obtuse here.
If a movie is released and doesn't perform well for a couple months people are going to call it a box office flop. If it goes on to break box office records in week three, that doesn't change how it performed and how it was perceived in real time.

Nah, if the movie doesn't perform well out the gate, the consider it flopping. Nothing could save it from flopping. It would be difficult to break Box Office records by week three unless something big happens to cause a spike in sales.

Nothing of that magnitude happened with Da Real World. There is no record of Da Real World having a historic sales spike, which indicates the album was selling steady, yet slower than her debut.

If a movie can be considered a flop while still in theaters, then an album can be considered a flop even though all singles haven’t dropped.
