Again, I was old enough to know what I heard that summer and what was going on.
I remember Missy's career from '96- forward. I even remember the Raven Symone video, but never knew Missy was on the song until years after the fact.
What you're saying here has absolutely nothing to do with anything. We see the charts and none of them are actually disputing what I'm saying.

The other fact is that the first album was certified platinum in two months while the second took 7 months.
That’s roughly 42k a week. Nothing historic there at all. Remember that she did approx 130k on week one and that only got her #10 on the albums chart. This was the sales spike era.
There is an anomaly with The Rain which renders the charts meaningless. You would have had to be cognizant of what was going on.
Which still coincides with me saying it sold steadily even before the spike. It was already out nearly 5 months before "Hot Boyz". It sold 130K in week 1.
And actually, up until the last months of 1999, Rap/Hip Hop albums were not selling what they were in 1997 considering the amount of platinum and multi-platinum albums that dropped in 1997 vs the platinum and multi platinum albums that dropped in 1999.

This is wrong.
1999 had way more platinum albums than 1997. 1998 had the most in hip hop history.
