These fools don't seem to understand how the QB market works. This is a QB driven league. Everybody is looking for a QB. So at a time when the demand for a QB is at an all time high, why was Petty drafted in the 4th? In this day and age, if teams believe that you have the potential to be a franchise QB or a long time solution at the position, you're not getting past the 1st round (early 2nd at worst).

So Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Nick Foles are what?

The Jets have a plan with Petty, they thought highly enough of him to use a high 4th and want his brain to catch up with his arm.

No way they draft a QB in the top 125.

The bolded are average at best and Russell Wilson is anomaly.

A 4th pick is nothing. And in terms of QBs, it's basically a throwaway pick



Seems to me like they may not be as high on Petty as you think :jbhmm:

Would you prefer the media say he sucked this year when he didn't? Marshalls gotten plenty of praise. It's a QB driven sport that's the nature in every city...

Petty is basically a lotto ticket...the history of 4th round QB's isnt exactly pretty...but I cant blame the team for taking one either without a franchise guy on the roster. One positive note from Petty this year is he won the rookie who acts like a pro award, which the team votes on...so it sounds like the guys respect his work ethic, which is half the battle with young QB's...the position is a 24/7 job.

What I think happens is they resign Fitz on a 2 year deal with a 3rd year option...Geno's released, QB is drafted...Petty basically gets a cavity search type evaluation this offseason and preseason...and we go from there.

I wonder what the coli consensus would have been had Geno started and had the same exact season as Fitz throw for throw :jbhmm:
