Cartridge era was the WOAT....:why: paid $85 for MK1 for genesis for my birthday... aint have another high priced game after that in years...until I got PS1...

That was because of bad business with Nintendo. They were charging developers and publishers over $30 a cartridge while a cd was around $1.

Nintendo 64 Game Pak - Wikipedia

Manufacturing cost

Due to complex manufacturing processes, cartridge-based games are more expensive and difficult to manufacture than their optical counterparts. PlayStation CD-ROMs reportedly cost $1 to manufacture, while cartridges for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System cost $15 and Nintendo 64 cartridges reportedly cost more than $30.

Publishers had to pass these higher expenses to the consumer and as a result, Nintendo 64 games tended to sell for higher prices than PlayStation games. While most PlayStation games rarely exceeded US$50, Nintendo 64 cartridges could reach US$79.99, such as the first pressing of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Games in Sony's line of PlayStation Greatest Hits budget line retailed for US$19.95, while Nintendo's equivalent Player's Choice line retailed for US$29.95. In the United Kingdom, Nintendo 64 games were priced £54.95 at their time of release, while PlayStation games were priced at £44.95. In the United States, the typical price of a third-party game was around US$75.99 in the system's first year on the market, though this dropped incrementally after Nintendo reduced wholesale prices on the cartridges.

The next generation is looking funny in the light. Neither company has put up a price. Neither company has talked about expandable storage which will be an issue down the road. Now we got $70 to worry about, fukk that noise. :mjlol:

shyts a wrap when Nintendo and yearly titles pick this up. :lolbron:

The only games you “need” to buy day one are competitive online games. I haven’t paid full price for a game since Tekken 7

damn...I never owned an SNES...didn’t know the prices were that sick

:picard: :hhh:
When I was growing up in Alabama most people bought snes cartridges at flea markets for $40 or less. I didn’t they were worth way more than that elsewhere until I got on gaming forums

Of course... prices go up....

anyone who thought games would stay at 49.99 and 59.99 in 2020.... where a cup of coffee is 3 dollars and a beer at your average bar is 8 bucks.....is a fukking idiot! Times change and prices go up bytch! Go with it or take your bytch ass home!

Your argument doesn’t hold up. Gas is cheaper than ever and wages are stagnant.

Gamepass, check, smart delivery, check, backlog, check. I'll get the top shyt at first then after the library that I want grows faster than I would purchase? I'll get gets dirt cheap on sale like I do now. This is a non issue and I'm glad 2k is putting this out there. It'll either be worth it or we'll tell them to fukk off and the industry will bow to our desires :manny:

Besides, everyone will be apart of gamepass or they'll create their own subscription service like EA access. Gamepass got everyone else covered, free to play is more profitable if it's popular. All that combined assures me the price of gaming will be cheaper overall.

And we all know this is gonna lead to PC game price increases because they'll claim the market will bear it. Man fukk Take-Two forever and ever and ever.

Trying to sell a yearly roster update for higher than gram-of-cocaine prices?! :stopitslime:Finna charge $70 for a basketball game in the midst of an unstable future where there might not be live basketball featuring anyone people give a fukk about until after 2k21 is bargain bin status? hahahahahahahaha... nah. nikka if they try and charge even $60 for Miles Morales, I'mma just gone head and start hitting g2a and shyt. I know it's morally wrong for the sake of the developers, but... then they need to talk to their publishers :yeshrug: If it means I get fresh games for $40 bucks, then honestly I couldn't give a fukk less about AAA game companies and their profit margins that they'll just use to line their board's pockets while still laying off workers. Indies still gonna get the full price because it's like supporting small business, but... yeah. Bioware, Bethesda, Ubisoft and them? I wish I fukking would.

There are a lot of games I wouldn't have got if they were 70. Guess i'll be waiting for sales or buying used next gen.

Petty Vandross.. fukk Yall
It’s a shame to see that some of us brothers clearly aren’t prepared for the next generation.
It’s not about being “ready”..
When studios are blatantly shytting on their fans/franchises..
Making DLC(that was clearly in the game) as a afterwards package..
Launching games filled with bugs..
Offering trash ass “collectible editions”
Trying to make god awful “art think pieces”
Yeah...
People have a right to be mad at $70 price points..
Just to be raked over the coals..
Then watch them limit the backwards compatibility of games..
Just to sell Ultra 4K HD remasters:russ:
This would be the perfect time for people to speak with their dollars and demand more out of these companies/studios..
But that ain’t going to happen..

this genius is arguing the pricing of a fossil fuel :snoop:

the education system has failed so many

Yea bytch. The price for gas is as cheap as ever, no matter the reason why.

And the gaming industry is making more money than ever. Games aren’t $60 now. That’s just the entry level experience. People end up paying 20, 30, hell even 60 more for shark cards and cheats. Stop caping for the industry bytch nikka.

Edit: And I see you ain’t have nothing to say about stagnant wages.
