It's a damn shame that some of you have it so good that you can chalk this virus and the death toll up to conspiracy theories and other bs.
I read this on reddit, and I absolutely agree that they should be allowing photojournalists in the ICUs and units re-dedicated to COVID-19 patients (with PPE, of course) to take photos of these people intubated and on ventilators. Even if there are plenty who will still deny it and protest, at least seeing some photos may make the not-so-stupid rethink their stance on the whole matter.
As far as the conflicting information out there, that's how it is in situations like this. Actually, that's how it is in any crisis situation. Mass shooting, pandemic, you name it--the details first start emerging and the wheat is slowly separated from the chaff.
Veteran nurses and pharmacists I know say how much this reminds them of the AIDS epidemic when it first hit. People were going into patients' rooms gowned up with face shields because they weren't even sure if it could be transmitted through the air at first. Now imagine how the deniers of that virus are doing, saying it was a hoax or I'm still not gonna protect myself versus the people who were overly careful even if they were wrong about some of the details of it
.
I'm not trying to bash anybody who has to work or is in an essential industry by any stretch--this isn't directed at them. But, if you have to go outside or handle business, please be mindful of everybody's health including your own. Wear a mask, wash your hands. Avoid the knuckleheads that are congregating in groups. Even if your state wasn't hit as hard, try to keep it that way.
