You really think man got over 70 MORE STEALS at home than playing on the road? :russ:

Even with that graph that shows how much of a difference there was between him and the other top steals leaders in the league?

That don't sound suspect to you?

:dead:

WHATS THE PERCENTAGE IN 87?
WHICH WOULD STILL BE THE GUARD RECORD...

Michael was better at getting people to do whatever he wanted,” Pippen wrote. “I saw it over and over, from the first training camp in 1987 to the last victory rally in 1998. Here’s how it worked: Say I deflected the ball and tapped it over to him. I should get credit with the steal, right? Nope.

> More often than not, the steal went into his column on the stat sheet, and I could do nothing about it.

“One night, a scorekeeper came into the locker room after the game to hand the stat sheets to Phil Jackson and the coaching staff. The sheet breaks down the points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots, turnovers, and so on for everyone who played the game. I couldn’t believe the look the guy gave Michael: ‘See MJ, we take care of you.’ No wonder in the nine full seasons we played together, he averaged more steals than me in every year except two.”

Damn maybe Scottie wasn’t hating after all :dead:

scorekeeper sloppy as shyt. come on dog. :dead:

Basketball discourse on this site is straight garbage.
This is like finding out Santa isn't real for some of these dudes. They cope by blaming the Klutch boogieman.

Case in point:

Retroactively trying to discredit a 40 year old award based on wildly incomplete game footage and a conspiracy theory and fallacious argument that a home stat keeper inflated stock numbers (possibly paid by MJ himself to do so) and singlehandedly won MJ the DPOY….all for no other reason than because BRON never won DPOY, explicitly prefacing the article in that framing at that…is some of the most diabolical shameless dikkriding imaginable in a professional setting…. Bron groupies need their press credentials revoked…. This is ridiculous :russ:
:skip:

The utterly egregious 2X disparity in home/road stats, the fact that no other player in NBA history has a seasonal spike even remotely close, the fact that this season is a massive outlier within Jordan's own career is nothing to see here folks. Just stannery :mjlol:

Strongly agree, the article appears to be credible and also has stats to back up its arguments, rather than challenge the reporter with facts to counter the narrative, its somehow all a huge conspiracy orchestrated by lebron or klutch, anything to not explain why such a huge disparity in home and road games are present. I find the article to be very credible

Yeah, you’re misreading my post

I have no doubt that mike received home cooking from his home stat keeper…most stars did and do…the fallacy is coming to that conclusion, then making an additional unproven jump in logic and concluding that’s why he won DPOY…and another jump in logic that it should be retroactively devalued such that it’s no longer a meaningful accolade in comparisons with Lebron who never won…which is the entire, plainly pathetic, point of the article

Home/road disparities for stars is normal but the sheer magnitude of this particular home/road disparity prompted the article. It's an unprecedent gap that cant simply be hand-waved away as home-cooking.

Jordan has always played much better at home. Pay attention to his stats vs the Charlotte Hornets when they play in Charlotte. He always snapped in Charlotte because he was literally home
These folks went back and watched the games breh. If you think he still deserved the award then thats what you think but they juiced the stats up and thats not the same as playing better at home.

Did you read the article?

The year before Jordan won DPOY and his defensive stats were cooked ...he openly whined about not getting credit as a defender and was jealous of Michael Cooper.

It's literally within the first couple of paragraphs of the story.

:what:

In 1986-87, Jordan’s third season in the league, he was incensed that coaches left him off the All-Defensive teams even though Jordan became the first player in NBA history to register at least 200 steals and 100 blocks in the same season. In particular, it irritated Jordan that Michael Cooper of the Los Angeles Lakers won Defensive Player of the Year in 1986-87, garnering 25 of the 78 votes, while Jordan received just one.

Jordan made sure his discontent was known. In an 18-page Sports Illustrated feature in which SI writer Curry Kirkpatrick entrenched himself inside Jordan’s growing empire, the Chicago Bulls star expressed deep resentment about his lack of recognition. In particular, Jordan called out the voting contingency about its apparent disregard for box-score statistics like blocks and steals.

“Michael Cooper is great at ball denial,” Jordan told SI. “But check his other stats. This league gives defensive awards on reputation. It just tees me off.”
