So telling the truth in the case that they will leave it up to publishers is leading consumers on? When in fact they're telling you the truth? :leostare:

It's no different from what they're doing today....they won't block used games, but if publshers want to use an online pass, it's up to them. Sony even uses online passes, but it's only for multiplayer since they do use dedicated servers for the games that have it.

yall nikkaz, I swear....

They are not leaving it up to publishers. The ability has to be written into the ps4 OS. The fact that they did put the ability there, means that they have talked to publishers and they support the decision.

They tell you "we are leaving it up to publishers" cause it sounds good. But in reality they know that's the direction the entire industry, including themselves as publishers, are going.

So do we believe YOU or Sony themselves who said it's up to developers. It'll be no different than the way the online pass is setup if they choose to do so, so please

Yup, cause Sony, or any large corporation for that matter, is known for their honesty.

And if you don't see the irony in a publisher saying "it's up to publishers" then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm pretty certain Sony released a statement that the PS4 wouldn't require an always online connection. Oddly enough Sony did give one of the best reasons to have an always online connection with their new feature of game updating and patching being done in the background while gaming.
The no BC thing while not a deal breaker for me should be there, the no used game thing I still need to read up on.
PS4 requires no internet access to function and the PS4 is kind of backwards compatible not by the graphics emulation in the system, it can perform this task by cloud stream gaming. The Ps4 also will support used games and if EA wants to make Drm on Ps4 they will need to do it with a online code, Sony created the media storage projection devices they do not support they technology to be blocked by Drm this has always been a Microsoft windows anti priacy movement. The way M$ will control the systems software is by the network, Everything will be done by network when logged into the system, thats why they can enable or disable the feature by frimware and network coding. The Xbox 720 supports login to the network when the system powers on. Thats why everything is detected and blocked. They can monitor the new disc by network tracking and Mac id of software and system and also push they future tech for Settop Cable Pc Game Box

Microsoft isn't gonna comment on these rumors because there's an event they'll have for the new Xbox. They won't say anything about it till the official event. No doubt in my mind that they were gonna do always online but since the word leaked and they're taking a beating I wouldn't be surprised to see it get dropped.

Our xbot friends are having a hard time coming to grips. They're out here just saying any willy nilly statement to make it seem like the 720 and the ps4 are similar, but they arent. :stop:

they've definitely had the opportunity to see what the reaction to an 'always online' announcement would be, without actually making said announcement

If there's anything that has been confirmed its that the systems are very similar. Which makes it funny when Sony fanboys try to diss the Xbox for features that the ps4 is promoting.
