Well if you don't believe the hype lookup Microsft Webtv product which was a settop box which required subscription and internet for the box to function, I remember M$ wanted Webtv to function games with cable interactive tv and make it a Media hub with internet browsering, Yes Webtv was built it did indeed use the dream but never became a game machine, Then Xbox was born it was all a full gaming console but had no media box abilitys, so 360 was built it did make part of the dream come alive with its Media and Internet abilitys inside a game machine. So M$ thought they dream of Webtv came be remade this time as the new Xbox 720 which is Webtv with interactive Cable and Media features and Windows 8 running all on the machine. It is a PC/Cable Box in a Game Machine.. but with the heart of what started it all like its father Webtv it needs a network and subscription to function. This is no rumor if u studyed the history of M$ u would know they always wanted to control your living n room not your kids bedrooms. Yes Webtv 720 and I knew this info way before thats why I been telling people Sony has this . Face it. Started from the bottom now we here. Dont believe me but I been in this game along time. U can get the Settop 720 if u want its features and games and deal with always using it if u have internet and when u lose subscription or internet just like webtv was the Box is useless to u .. but u can sell it to someome else. I have the info and im not bias but I will tell u facts M$ dream isnt a game machine its always been a Media Box. Always ... Get it? .... P.s sorry for bad typos im on my mobile device on vacation kudos
I love the WebTV comparison, mostly because I had one. But I agree with your overall point, MS definitely wants a meda box more than they want a game console. I was wondering exactly what all they had planned for a always on connection, I know it has more to do with just playing games. I know somehow the 720 will monitor things in the background.
