yup. unless your name is deniro, leonardo, denzel or hanks the budget for your films will be cheaper than straight to dvd films.

Wesley Snipes was making a killing with straight to dvd movies before he went to jail.

Plus when was the last time u saw a all black cast, latino cast on NBC, ABC AND FOX with there own show?? blacks and latinos are force to go to tbs or the cw and have small ass budgets where the show is just film in 2 rooms :snoop: like the dining room or the workplace

Yeah, Thanks to superhero movies and :old: actors refusing to step off the spotlight, we have this influx of actors trying to find a way to eat. That is why we can never find another young Spike Lee or John Singleton in today's ADD market.

The movie industry and television is just like the regular job market out here nowadays

same exact thing with CEO's and The Shareholders cutting back on there high salary employees and keeping low wage employees and having them work to death and sometimes fukking up the company brand but these executives don't care as long as they can still pull in there same amount of money and benefits

I see shows like my wife and kids and the george lopez show which both was on ABC and did huge numbers, but soon when damian wayans and george start asking for a little bit more money for everyone then it's time to cancel the show and move on.

Pretty much. It was the greed of the execs is why everything is low quality and full of quantity, like Lil Wayne's music.

Its the same thing with movies too. On one hand, you have blacks gaining ownership. Tyler Perry would never have had his own movie studios and distribution 20 years ago. But I feel like the soul is gone from our movies. I can't put it into words really. I just know when I watch older movies, then watch newer black films, the feeling isn't the same. And its not nostalgia.

Lets keep the same nikka till the water goes dry and then we can find a new nikka next year

106 was mature and soulful when Free & AJ were there? All I recall is Bow Wow and B2K and screaming teenage girls... lol

It used to be targeted toward older teenagers and the college crowd. They had Bow Wow on there too but, it didn't become a pre-teen show until later on. During the Free/AJ days, I wanted to go to the audience. By the time I was old enough, they was gone and the new style of the show seemed mad corny.

These execs went overboard thinking that just because of some popular rapper of the moment, means that he can become a movie star. Samuel L. Jackson spoke about that a decade ago when thug rappers were taking all the spots from legit black actors. Most of these rappers can't act for worth a shyt. Funny thing is now, everyone is fighting for scraps.

:lawd: @ Every last one of those movies

Other audiences didn't connect or get those movies like we did, so that's the root of the problem (not really a problem, but you know what I mean). Alot of recent "black" movies tend to go after viewership of the masses and they try too hard and come off as corny, to me at least :yeshrug:

Alot of that shyt wont real:patrice:

Naw...a lot of it was real. These were segments of black people that always existed but were not showcased to the rest of society. Now, we can agree that the majority of black people were not living like the Cosby's but families like those existed and it was important for those that didn't to see a highly educated black family. Phylicia Rashad grew up in 50s and 60s in 3rd Ward Houston when it was the center of black middle class in Houston. By the 80s, the government turned the neighborhood into a crime infested hood. The family life she had was very similar to what she had growing up.

On the flip side, a lot the shows in the 80s and 90s were part of racial showcasing as well, basically a way to distract black people who are progressive, middle class and educated from caring much about the plight of lower/underclass black people. The 80s and 90s just so happens to be the time when black people were under continual attack by the government who created terrible conditions in the black community. That whole era was hell for black communities. The shows were a distraction to control the progressive set of black people from being active against the government. That is why we had so many black shows. It doesn't make sense to give that many shows to a people that make up just 12% of the population unless you have an agenda. I keep telling people that the Media is the 4th and most important branch of the government.

Yep, the first 1-3 seasons were all targeted towards High School and College kids. Some how the show got so wack now it's only targets are elementary and junior high kids. That alone should tell how badly black music and our culture as a whole is doing. It's so garbage and yet :demonic: at the same time.
