house of payne is a dope show actually.

i dont know why it gets such a bad rap on here. its better than some of the shows that get gassed up on here, and it opened up doors for more black sitcoms to get deals again. it deserves its props.

I mean I used to watch it, that and Meet The Browns..

But I can't help but cringe at certain c00n moments in all of Tyler Perry's material

It was Dipset that started that skinny jeans nonsense. They wanted to dress like Jamaican dancehall artists and wanted to be more "fly" acting like Rockstars in the hood. Everything else, I agree. I blame the fact that they removed the instruments and the church from our culture and we promote the club more than anything else.

nobody in dipset ever rocked skinny jeans. EVER.

and that rockstar stuff was really byrd gang/skull gang. most dipset members didnt dress like that and probably still dont.

Why don't people become movie directors, music producers, or other 'behind-the-scenes' type job and try to wield some influence on the landscape of hollywood? Especially now with the enduring presence of social media (i.e.: like facebook, twitter, youtube) it should be easy to start something up with relatively low capital.

You know I may be going to hard on house of payne. I just don't like the preachy bullshyt Perry puts in a lot of his stuff because of what so called "Christianity" has actually done to a lot of blacks...

and i liked "family matters" but its one of those shows that some people tend to overrate due to childhood nostalgia.

the show got wack and stupid after the 1st few seasons. and as good as the early seasons were, they shouldnt be anywhere near a goat discussion.

i understand that people dont like tyler perry, but "house of payne" was clearly a better show imo.......and it doesnt belong anywhere near a goat discussion either, for the record.

Look @ saturday morning cartoons, they aint coming back no more for the kids, teen shows like saved by the bell, hang time etc will never be made ever again.

I used to love this show because it not only showed black people in a positive light but it also showed the diversity and range of our experiences. A brotha like Dwayne Wayne could be geeky, intelligent, and silly and still be considered a cool brotha who commanded respect. On the other hand a woman like Jaleesa could be beautiful, opinionated, Sassy, and sophisticated and not be ratchet and would still garner respect. In today's climate, Dwayne Wayne would be considered a lame, and Jaleesa would be stereotyped as a loud mouth ratchet chick. it is what it is.
