Spot how many women you can see with natural hair

black women we love you most in your truest form

do not expect love from a colonised mind
I miss seeing real Black people, black music and dancing and black comedy on tv. Seems like right after 1999/2000 everything got shutdown. It was like a new integration or something. Seems like all the new all Black TV programming is some extreme kooning.

:snoop:

Naw...a lot of it was real. These were segments of black people that always existed but were not showcased to the rest of society. Now, we can agree that the majority of black people were not living like the Cosby's but families like those existed and it was important for those that didn't to see a highly educated black family. Phylicia Rashad grew up in 50s and 60s in 3rd Ward Houston when it was the center of black middle class in Houston. By the 80s, the government turned the neighborhood into a crime infested hood. The family life she had was very similar to what she had growing up.

On the flip side, a lot the shows in the 80s and 90s were part of racial showcasing as well, basically a way to distract black people who are progressive, middle class and educated from caring much about the plight of lower/underclass black people. The 80s and 90s just so happens to be the time when black people were under continual attack by the government who created terrible conditions in the black community. That whole era was hell for black communities. The shows were a distraction to control the progressive set of black people from being active against the government. That is why we had so many black shows. It doesn't make sense to give that many shows to a people that make up just 12% of the population unless you have an agenda. I keep telling people that the Media is the 4th and most important branch of the government.

Some of it could be applied to real life I'll give you that. But some of it was just  Then they kept playing reruns of the same shows they had to reformat it or pay that money for new seasons and I'm sure by then the ratings dropped because they kept replaying the same shows.:youngsabo: Now of course there were real scenarios in these sitcom shows. But I always looked at it as television and not reality because it didn't fit my life. I will say the realest show from the 90s was a different world it showed the college experience and was a good look. I still think reality tv gets more upclose and personal and is probably cheaper.

Forget all these stupid extremely GOOFY dumb lames ass shows, black people need to go sit down and READ + SHARE with others.

Black people always want to have a good time and like to pretend that everything is all good when we are at WAR every single sec of the day.

GTFOH with all that gay ass entertainment that doesn't take us anywhere, majority of it is fake anyway. You got fools on here putting up fantasia similies like everything is a joke.

TV is played out anyway, the internet has taken over. I don't even understand what people are bytching about.

The internet is way SUPERIOR to useless ass tv, your computer is way more advanced, you people need to go set your priorities straight.

You can choose and create your own programming, black people to need to go read a book.

Yup, you had more predominately black shows on tv and more black films in theaters. It's crazy how there was a lot more diversity in the 90's compared to now, it's like things are going backwards.
it all went downhill post 2005

Yeah, Thanks to superhero movies and :old: actors refusing to step off the spotlight, we have this influx of actors trying to find a way to eat. That is why we can never find another young Spike Lee or John Singleton in today's ADD market.
We got ryan coogler

Oh and BTW...I think black sitcoms fell off sometime around the late 90s...like someone said--you'll never have another era of the Cosby Show, A Different World, Martin, and Living SIngle those days are over...it is what it is man...

But some of yall are naming those crap WB sitcoms :scusthov: the writing and acting in alot of those was pure garbage (minus The Waynes Bros Show...that was actually pretty hilarious)

How you gone leave out fresh prince and family matters breh :what:

Its the same thing with movies too. On one hand, you have blacks gaining ownership. Tyler Perry would never have had his own movie studios and distribution 20 years ago. But I feel like the soul is gone from our movies. I can't put it into words really. I just know when I watch older movies, then watch newer black films, the feeling isn't the same. And its not nostalgia.

so many dope movies

I'd really like if some of the old heads from a Different World did a spin-off where they were now professors and had to deal with the newer generation of college students. I mean if Boys Meet World can do it...

We don't have enough control of the media. Dr. Claude Anderson touched on it in this video
