There are. However, with a lot of these shows, the first few arcs/character arcs are mapped out, and these are writers that have been with the project for some months. Hiring a replacement (temp) to fill in the gaps throws off a lot of series. The replacements aren't as fully vested in the characters or perhaps even the show. They are doing the best they can, especially to get their name in circulation, however, the tone of the shows always change.
