It's crazy how everyone looks down on the south and talks about how racist it is, but honestly blacks are flourishing in Houston/Dallas and Atlanta

The racism back in Houston and Dallas is... odd. If there's two types of white liberals, it's the conservative type of one's that piss me off in Houston the most. They'll be the first to dap you up and speak AAVE but as soon as shyt pops off they'll be repeating stuff they learned in their suburban home from mom and dad. Lots of Millennial "we're all one race guys" type of c00ns in Texas suburbs too.There's your usual disparities and what not. It's just you'll be in no man's land if you're not a God fearing type of black person.


Especially in Houston it's "woke" blacks against your own kind and everyone else(Latinos,Arabs,Indians,Vietnamese,etc)

It's 70/30 there...there are more black people in PGH than the places you named, breh, percentage-wise.

Damn, this sucks to hear. If I ever moved away from the east coast. Austin would have been one of my preferable destinations. I know they've a rising tech scene out there. That alone should have probably told me there wouldn't be many black ppl smh.

Good tech scene in Austin tho. Hey get your paper. I had to leave Atlanta, oh great black mecca, to flourish so I think you will be good considering you are one of the few blacks in tech.

Oakland/Squirrel Hill have been Jewish for a few decades now. Maybe it was black back in the 60s/70s when my grandmom lived there, but hasn't been since atleast the early 90s.

Oakland's a college ghetto now. Gentrified out the ass dude.

Me and my friends used to hang out there in the late 90s to early to mid 00s. Lived there. It was like the Lower east side of manhattan back in the days. Not exactly...but tons of good clubs like club laga, the attic, the upstage, peter's pub, the beehive were around back in the day on forbes avenue. Me and my homies saw our first punk and hip hop shows there. They got rid of the clubs and turned them into student dorms.

There used to be a dope record store there called Hypervinyl and that's where i got my first house and techno records when I was djing in the early 00s.

Thats all gone. Turned into chipotles, qdoba, american apparel,...you would see lots of cool people there back in the day now its just the pitt college crowd.

And it wasnt just pitt kids that used to live there back then but art institute kids kids from duquense and just regular old teens and young adults just moving out and not even enrolled.

Lived there from 2005-2008. Once the last of the clubs closed the change in the neighborhood was palpable.

It is more so now than before even about 15 years ago. The new wave of Russian/Eastern Europeans Jews moved in in late 90's and 2000's. And what's more, the new Jews are more orthodox than the older American born ones, at least around the streets where I used to live. They wear those yarmulkes and black cloaks around Saturdays, very very visible.

Sounds like Williamsburg only ten times cheaper.

Nah but seriouly by homies had a real nice apartment there....three bedroom for 800 a month!

Not many ppl have heard of this shythole, and that's a good thing. Literally NO opportunities for blacks. No jobs, besides fast food or cleaning houses or gay prostitution. Education is a JOKE, with basically no black schools or colleges in sight. ZERO black politicians or community leaders. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO THERE, EITHER. No entertainment unless the State Fair is happening, and the dating scene is dead on arrival. DO NOT MOVE THERE, BREHS.

I live in Anchorage, alaska right now. The city is really diverse; met a gang of blacks from the south like Arkansas, Louisiana and Georgia. But most blacks here are transplants from Cali bay area and Tacoma Washington.

the sad thing about the rust belt cities is that they all are next to each other... u have pittsburgh next to cleveland next to buffalo, detroit next to cleveland, etc, etc... it's like no escape

where in san francisco blacks can cross the bridge to oakland or drive down south to L.A. or 7 hours to vegas

same for brothers and sisters living in alabama or mississippi.. u right next door to atlanta or houston/dallas
