I have no problem with 15 million annually, jr smith makes that much and THJR has more room to grow. I'm willing to go slightly higher if we can shed bazemores contract

You could argue that THJR is a younger, slightly less talented JR and is arguably worth the money. I don't get the feeling Schlenk wants two swing men in WOAT and THJR making a combined $30-$32 million a year when neither one is an impact player.

And Schlenk is gonna have to work magic to get rid of WOAT's contract

So as @FreshFromATL posted the Hawks have sent a 4.8 million qualifying offer to THJR to keep him a restricted free agent, meaning the Hawks can match any offer he gets. So let me ask y'all, how high is Schlenk and the Hawks willing to go to keep THJR? If let's say THJR gets a $15 million dollar a deal year for 4-5 years do the Hawks match? What number is too high for y'all because let's keep it real, THJR is just a scorer. You're literally getting nothing else, no defense, no passing, etc. So with that being said what number do y'all think the Hawks should match?

This feels like Bazemore all over again. I don't like THJ a great deal more than I like Baze, but unlike Bazemore he brings scoring, which is something we don't have. I do think he's better than all of those wings that got cashed out last summer (Crabbe, Hill, Baze, etc) so we might as well offer.

You mean match? Because we just offered him 4.8 million to keep him an RFA. I'm just not sure I'm cool with him getting $15-$17 million after looking at what Schlenk is trying to do. The Dwight trade changed everything for me as far as the direction of this franchise and how we value players

Well I think you have to match tim because we've already come to the conclusion bazemore should not be a starter for us moving forward. I understand the cold feet because we got burned by WOAT last summer.

I think the fact we've shopped Baze means he will be moved whether it's this summer or during the season. So 32 million between them won't be a long term issue

That seems fishy. You never know what could happen when a new Prez of B'Ball Ops/GM comes in, most owners give that guy an opportunity to hire their own coach. But it behooves Schlenk to work with Bud in the short term, see what we have and if they don't mesh, make a change.
