It pretty much does. I don't know one person in my circle that has a Pro and I know atleast 10 people that have a ps4 and its either the slim or the OG.

I think you will see significant gains after the holiday season. The number 1 blocker right now seems to be people not having 4k HDR TVs of decent quality. Once those black friday sales hit or those holiday bundles One X + 4k TV i think you'll see more and more people getting on the new wave.

There's plenty people on this board alone that have upgraded from an OG PS4 to a PS4 pro and I'm sure the PS4 Pro is selling fine. This idea that the general public doesn't care about hardware is completely false. Just because you, and "your circle" doesn't care about something doesn't mean it doesn't matter, especially to the rest of the world.

The Xbox X seems to be selling pretty well even outselling the Switch, and the install base is less then a 2 million difference in the U.S. between PS4 and Xbone

Whether or not people will find the premium price justifiable remains to be seen.
We've seen the N64 expansion pack, Sega 32X, and Sega CD. Those were additions to base consoles.
This PS4 Pro and XB1X "half gen" that we're currently in is unprecedented and we're still a few years away from seeing whether or not these consoles "worked" from a sales stand point.
I can tell you that if MS follows through with their idea (and I think they will) that XB1X will not only be backwards compatible, but FORWARD compatible as well, the XB1X is definitely going to be the go to system given enough time.
That's fine, but I'm responding to the price point being criticized.
$500 for an XB1X is a very solid price.
For what it offers, and for where it is compared to its direct competition.
