Ah ok I see. I didn't know he was booked for Django. When did he ever indicate he was scared? How do you know it wasn't due to scheduling with another movie?
I specifically said I ‘think’. Django was written for Will Smith. He’s quoted for the reasons of him not taking the role is because he felt Django wasn’t the lead. Looking at that film, why would one think he wasn’t the lead when he’s (Jamie Foxx) in like 90% of the shots.

well, when reading the script he probably saw the lack of lines. The german guy spoke more than django did, as did Leo's character. Heck, Django really didn't do much talking, he tagged along and whooped arse along the way. Even the final scene at the plantation where his wife was, Leo and the german guy did most of the talking and that was a crucial scene that kicked off the battle. Will probably read the lack of lines and :camby: but when you see it visually, you see how much of a presence Django contributed more than the others.

He turned down the role of Django because he felt Django wasn’t really the lead. :francis::yeshrug:

I just think he was scared to share screen time with Leo. Will Smith rightfully has an ego.

Leo wasn’t even Tarantino’s first choice for the role Of Calvin Candie. If Will Smith decided to join I doubt Di’caprio would have been in it.

Will has worked with Tommy Lee Jones, Gene Hackman, Edward Norton, and a slew of other Cacs considered great actors, the hell would he be scared of Di’caprio for?

I said I think. Another commentator made a valid point of why Will Smith May dropped out. Django’s dialogue was limited.

I havent watched a will Smith movie since I Robot...nuff said.
Will Smith is a jobber.
You and I both know that's a lie.

When Bad Boys 3 drops you'll be right there in the cinema with a PAWG because you know she likes black men and it's taboo for her so seeing a black film will get her mayonnaise blood flowing. PAWG season is approaching.

Will is perfectly acceptable, even good. I even enjoyed him in Ali (even though he never should've been cast). But I can't think of any roles of his that stand out for me. Jamie has more depth and dimension.

Great debate. They excel at different things.

Jaime is a great imitator. Give him a known or specific character with minor idiosyncrasies and unique personality traits & quirks, dude will bring that shyt to life and kill it. But cast him as a generic doctor, lawyer, cop/detective, criminal, etc... and dude can be downright average, dull, or forgettable.

But with Will Smith, if you give him a generic character, his charisma can bring that character to life and make them memorable or interesting for the life of the movie.

Will doesn't have Jaime's range of talent, but he has more charisma and is a better lead and movie star type actor.

When Will read the script, he thought that the Schultz character was the real lead. I can't really be mad at him for feeling that way, because he really was. They had to kill him off in a bs way so that Django could shine.

They said Will also wanted the movie to be more of a real love story, but you know Quinton aint changing no scripts for no nikkas:mjpls:

Will Smith easily

People keep bringing up Ray...so is that Jaime's only good role? He played a musician (Jaime's a musician himself) and coming from comedy knew how to imitate. Great role but it's not like he played Julius Caesar. He was so dull in Law Abiding Citizen

Will is a bigger superstar and box office draw for a reason

Wasn’t an insult.

Actors who can play themselves like that in numerous roles tend to stand out and make memorable characters. It’s “acting naturally” while putting a personal and familiar twist on characters that tend to leave imprints on people. People still quoting Will Smith in Men In Black, Denzel in Training Day and Tom Cruise in Top Gun while directly associating their real life with those characters. If that’s not the definition of convincing, I don’t know what is.
Lol this nikka is low key dissing Denzel

Tough one.

Jamie Foxx at his best probably wins, but Smith has a better catalog and is more consistent. Foxx is better at drama (provided the script is good) but Smith is better at Action/Comedy stuff.
