Interesting comparison.

Both came into the entertainment game doing other things.

Will Smith is the better actor

Jamie is a jack of all trades kinda guy. Musician, comedian, actor. He can do a lot of things.

Jamie is one of the best entertainers on the planet in that regard...his range in doing a lot of things in entertainment.

But just acting-wise, gotta give it to Will.

Jamie Foxx is the better actor without question.
With Will Smith no matter what role he is playing it always comes across as "Will Smith acting" while Jamie can become a character.

Just take the two high profile real people they played: Muhammad Ali and Ray Charles.

In Ali we had Will Smith doing an Ali impression.

In Ray we got Jamie Foxx becoming Ray Charles.

Hell, Jamie out acted Will in the Ali movie. His performance as Bundini Brown was miles better than what Will did as Ali.
