Adam Sandler disagrees with you breh :scust:

Not his last movie breh. And even then Adam sandler has a niche. When you see an Adam sandler movie you know what you're getting and he has his following which is why we were talking about knowing your audience and going for a niche rather than trying to hit everyone.

Tried to tell posters this interacial thing wasnt gon go over well:mjpls:...I bet money that this movie wouldve made more money with Taraji P Henson or Regina Hall in this shyt:mjlol:....All racism aside i think at least that way black folks wouldve assumed it was a movie for black people. And they woulda went to go see it,this movie:patrice:?Not sure who the fukk the demographic was or what it was about based on previews..

And also i will say i think black people and white people can both agree that we all like goofy azz Fresh Prince Will better:mjcry:....he need to just embrace that shyt like Samuel L Jackson....from the previews i saw straight laced, supposed to be smooth Will:childplease:.

Maybe he's not that way in the movie but thats how it looked in the previews, and aint nobody tryna see that.....At least i should say not in roles where its not neccesary for him to be corny....not tryna scare off white people Will scares everybody....every movie he ever made would make more money if he just was the same person america fell in love with on Fresh Prince:mjcry:

Uncertain grounds
Oh ok. Gotta make movies people really wanna see man lol. It ain't about star power. It's about movies. I will always argue that and I've always believed that. But also to be fair, times are changing. Technology, streaming, illegal life, etc. I'm sure the big movies will always be big like the avengers and Star Wars but those are event movies. Other than that everything is a toss up.

I lean this direction but obviously its both. A star in a movie with a shytty plot has a lower ceiling than does a movie with a great plot and lesser names (without a huge disparity in budget). A star or two can make a good movie into a blockbuster though whereas lesser names without breakout and standout performances can only make a good movie so successful...could even flop at the BO and at best become a cult classic over the years and eat later in DVDs etc.

Without a doubt. Now Hollywood has to compete with good TV so that's an issue as well. They need to be more creative and original with the stories though.

Which is exactly why studios were afraid of TV way back in the day when TV first started; they thought it would take away from the amount of people who'd go to the movies along with the penchant of those just coming home from WW2 and their desire to make babies lol. It took a while, a long while, but we may finally be at that point

The white black thing is interesting tho. They may have just accidently blackballed the entire audience they thought would see this. Or maybe most people just didn't think the film looked all that good to drop 30.00 bones at the theaters.

I'm leaning toward that. Most of the audience that came out for it were older women, females were 53% of the audience with people over the age of 25 being 88% of the audience. So they didn't scare anyone away with the interracial thing at least not the target audience

I agree. The trailers had no exuberance, nothing that really made me excited to see it. Looked like a red box unless I was so bored I had to go to the movies. If it was an action adventure film, I think it would've done well.

I said it before in the thread that when you're selling a con/heist movie, then you've got to sell the flavor of the movie and they never seemed confident as to what that was which caused mixed messages which is never good for anything. You never want mixed messages when you're selling your product, especially a movie but especially a movie coming out in february. Audiences want to know what they're in for. Any Ocean's 11 movie sold exactly what they were; the vibe, the outfits, the music, and the actors were all a part of a package and WB knew what they had from jump

Fo sho. There's Definitely a tone u have to set and it was too much of a mixed bag. That's the studios fault, they didn't know how to sell it and now they see a mediocre gross because of it. U can sell an average film as good if u do it right. They relied too much on Wills name.

And of course saturation. I couldn't watch anything or go anywhere without hearing about the movie
