To be honest the breh you're responding to isn't completely correct in what he said...salvation, from a Christian standpoint, really only requires you to acknowledge that Jesus is the son of God and that he died for our sins. That's literally the only true requirement and I wouldn't consider that "desiring praise".

The ONLY requirement for salvation is believing in Jesus and His death on the cross and resurrection and confessing that you believe.

God does NOT have any other requirements like having to praise and worship Him for salvation.

Good question and for me personally, this is why I think there is a gray/purgatory type area because I do not think for example babies who die go to hell or people who are severely mentally disabled and can't think well for themselves go to hell nor people who might not ever have heard the Gospel during their earthly life.

God did not even spare Himself from painful suffering and death so we know that we as human beings will also have lots of unfair things happen to us on earth (slavery, holocaust, loss of loved ones as happened here when King Herod killed the firstborn children you spoke of).

We see our existence as Christians in the context of God's bigger eternal plan for us (long eternal life in heaven) and are not as focused on trying to figure out why God allows suffering to happen during our very short earthly lives. After all, He did not spare suffering for Himself so we know we have to go through some ourselves.

But we look to Jesus as our example so we know that if He suffered and was tortured and if He had a difficult life on earth and a painful death which He did (as well as almost all of his 12 disciples most of whom were also tortured and then murdered) then we will have to "carry our cross" in this life as well. But earthly life is short. Heaven is our focus. Eternal life is happy and pain-free forever. That is always our goal and our focal point...not the hows and whys of suffering in the here and now.

It could have happened faster than we think if you think about how many animals have a sixth sense before natural disasters like tsunamis and floods and earthquakes and wildfires occur. To this day many species tend to gather themselves together and try to make it to safer areas before earthquakes and tsunamis even start. It's interesting to read about the people deep sea diving who survived the big Indonesian tsunami and knew something was up when all the sea life they had expected to find underwater was gone before the earthquake and subsequent tsunami happened. Same thing with the big wildfire on the west coast where the guy was trying to drive out the forest that was on fire and his neighbors behind him burned up in their truck but he survived because he lept out of his car and spotted some foxes running for cover and he followed them trusting their instincts. The animals could have herded themselves together and followed Noah and his family pretty quickly sensing the impending threat. Many animals act that way before huge natural disasters.

God will actually reveal Himself and parts of His thought process to you if you actively decide to believe in Him and draw near to Him and if that is in God's will for you.

This was one thing that really pleasantly surprised me about God! He will give you remarkable insight into a person or situation or a dream or Scripture sometimes that you might not have had otherwise like when Daniel interpreted dreams for King Nebuchadnezzar for example or when Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dream. Both were instances when God allowed man to reveal His thought process and prophecies to other people. Many Biblical prophets like Moses were also given this ability from time to time to directly interpret the thoughts of God to humans.

You can be an exceptionally good parent and still give birth to a child who wants to do evil. The child has free will. God did not create robots. WE choose to do good or evil not God.
