Good luck selling an add on that costs as much as the console to the install base. It will have to be new adopters to the platform.

If it delivers and isn't just gimmicky it'll move units. A lot of variables (dev support, quality, pricing amongst others) obviously need to be successfully resolved.
PC heads spend 100s on graphics cards because the value proposition makes sense to them. Similarly if VR is somewhere near what we hope it could be, a $300+ pricepoint won't seem so steep
