Gentification...of what?Detroit in recent history has been one of the blackest cities in America especially when it's come to politics. Its failure would set a poor precedent for smaller predominately black cities like Cleveland, Jackson, Baltimore, etc who also have flagging economies.
Either way, none of this really matters. They just built a fukking Starbucks across the street. Everyone's rent has been creeping up.
Over the next 10-15 years the white folks will come slinking back in, poor folks will have to leave and all of a sudden shyt will be popping again.

All this gentrification is a massive gamble cause everyone knows, even the ones spending what little money there is, that Detroit just ain't coming back to what it once was.

The Feds? Michigan has been a donor state for 95% of the 20th/21st century. Until around 2008-10 the state has reciebed 0.95 for every dollar it sent to the Federal government. So they're out.

-the same state that has DECIMATED public schooling in Detroit?
-the same state that has crippled Public Transportation here for 50 years, and continues to do so just because it can?
-the same state crafted a bargain to lower taxes in exchange for revenue sharing and then just fukking reneged on it?
-the same state that closed mental hospitals and dumped the resulting homeless with little prospects on us?
-the same state that took away local municipalities right to enforce residency for employment?
-the same state that dragged it's feet to pass antiscrapping laws until it finally started hitting the burbs?
Who is saving Detroit?
The ONLY people trying to save anything are downtown business interests who finally realized a half century of city vs suburbs cannibalizing each other was leaving us ALL high and dry. And they're investing in the city core 7 sq miles out of 149 because they realize it's not about Detroit vs Royal Oak or Detroit vs Eastpointe or Detroit vs Livionia. It's Detroit vs Chicago and Detroit vs Philadelphia and we're getting our asses kicked in.
I don't know if this is a troll thread or if the OP had a legit point he was trying to make...but it was very uninformed.
