Why isn't Ghostface not universally seen as top 5?

Ghostface is my favorite rapper period. I stan that man unapologetically. But even I'm not surprised that he never blew up huge or got widely recognized as a GOAT. His style is just weird and not everyone is going to connect to that

Im hesitant to include any 80s rappers in my top 10... thats personal bias, but also you got to look at how the craft evolved.

In rock, for example... you don't rank Chuck Berry or even Howlin' Wolf with Jimi Hendrix... they aint on the same level

I feel you. LL is a hip hop icon and has a more legendary name than Ghost. Ghost's discography is way more consistent tho. LL has some actual weak albums

Even over the past few albums, hes pushed boundaries and been creative with what he put out. 36 seasons, sour soul, and reasons do die have been conceptual and dark as shyt. His ability to tell a story, from track one to its finish has always been great. He also realized that he didnt really have the ability to flow over super sped up beats, so he started to going with slower bluesy type joints.

Ghostface's best work is back when his rhymes didn't make sense at all.

He said himself in a few interviews that his style is putting fly words together. It doesn't have to mean anything.

With that being said I like Ghost music but my top 5 will be Mc's who are actually saying something.

One of the goats tony starks it's always been between gfk and dirty mef of who's the best in the wu. Ghost has the discography and meth has one of the illest flows. If mef kept spitting like he did on the first gen wu albums he'd definately be all time top 5 no doubt. The reason why he changed that flow was because ghost and rae started fukking with him over the cat in the mouse flow, on some joke clown on bully shyt. They were joking but meth took it to heart. That flow was the grim reaper nobody could fukk with it. Regardless with or with out that style dude is the Michael Jackson of the wu. he could've had a better solo career tho. With that bieng said gfk has 3 classics.
