Why isn't Ghostface not universally seen as top 5?

I think GZA is better. Although I will admit that he hasn't been as consistent or had as much commercial success as Ghost. You could argue Rae too, although I would choose Ghost over Rae.

One of the goats tony starks it's always been between gfk and dirty mef of who's the best in the wu. Ghost has the discography and meth has one of the illest flows. If mef kept spitting like he did on the first gen wu albums he'd definately be all time top 5 no doubt. The reason why he changed that flow was because ghost and rae started fukking with him over the cat in the mouse flow, on some joke clown on bully shyt. They were joking but meth took it to heart. That flow was the grim reaper nobody could fukk with it. Regardless with or with out that style dude is the Michael Jackson of the wu. he could've had a better solo career tho. With that bieng said gfk has 3 classics.

Fair enough. On that note, I really never cared for GZA but always respect dudes craft. Dude's lyricism is impeccable but there's something about Ghost that speaks to me. Dude's albums are like anime flicks with how over the top the shyt can be. Even his first album felt out of this world when it dropped. I'm just saying, Ghost is an acquired taste for most rap heads but to each its own.

As many people have said, it's because his music is not easily digestible. Also, being part of a 9/10 man group and not necessarily being the standout star didn't help his cause in the greatness rankings as a SOLO artist...I think the only one who had a chance of entering legit GOAT conversations in all spheres of discussion would be Meth but he didn't quite make it.

That said, Ghost is in my top 5. Unparalleled discography with regards to consistent quality and he has at least 2 classics to his name if not 3.

I fukks with ghostface heavily but I can say he is an acquired taste...he can go over your head easily... he has so many "WTF" did he just say moments that make u run that shyt back. And a lot of shyt u might not fully comprehend til yrs later Those two things as a rapper should be just as important as a Platinum album.

He's the Draymond of rap. He shines most when surrounded by other dope rappers and can hold his own by himself but he's not a top 5 talent all time. Somewhere in the top 15 or around there.
