Why isn't Ghostface not universally seen as top 5?

Says someone that doesn't listen to Ghostface. He rapped like that for probably 3 years out of his over 2 decade career.
Nah I listen to Ghost, it's an honest criticism. Supreme Clientele is his best album and I think I saw in a magazine interview he said he was tryna rap that way on the album

Yea, that @TrebleMan dude never heard a Ghostface song in his life. Believe that.

I listened to Wu pretty heavy in the mid-late 90s.

I've heard plenty of Ghostface.

Personally I looked more forward to Method Man, Inspectah Deck and GZA's verses than Ghostface on any track they were on.

I don't really prefer cryptic rappers like Ghostface, Aesop Rock and Cannibal Ox. They shine from time to time, but I prefer more direct rappers with a clever line here and there.

With a certain sector of fans he is . New York heads (Just like 40 and face are with the south and west)

But I guess because he didnt have a larger crossover beyond his region maybe? Didnt have as many hit songs as other GOATs?

He should be but I think for that reason he remains top 15

40 and ghost is not a crazy comparison tbh. :manny:

Both use heavy slang and have a distinctive style .

He rapped that way for only a few years. If you were knowledgeable about his music you would know that.

Ghost rapped like that for only a few years. He's not "cryptic ". You are not knowledgeable about his music that's why you made that dumbass statement earlier. I try to stay out of conversations about rappers I'm not knowledgeable of.

That's great, do you.

Dude just isn't in my top 10 nor even my top 20, and I've given him a chance.

You may be right because the only Ghostface albums I bump on the regular are Ironman and Supreme Clientele, I'll put on Fishscale from time to time as well. In all those albums he rapped like that tho:yeshrug:

Anybody that can't understand what Ghost is talking about on ANY non-Supreme Clientele Ghostface album doesn't understand English. How can you have listened to Ironman and Fishscale and think Ghostface is cryptic or nonsensical? I don't understand.
