WHY is/was Edge better overall than Christian?

They paired him up with Vickie because the dynamic was proven and it made sense for his "ultimate opportunist" character. That Vickie pairing hasn't quite worked out the same for anybody else - there's a reason for that. And she took her character to a new level with Edge, as well.

This is something that's definitely worth noting. The fact that Edge is a low-key scumbag (I personally like the guy b/c I missed a few years so I'm indifferent on that Hardy/Lita situation) is the reason why I can be more captivated & drawn in by THIS...

Christian, Captain Charisma run when he went to the "Just Close Your Eyes" theme......people look at it with rose colored glasses. I honestly didn't know what he was supposed to be, heel or face. He'd come out and the crowd would make noise, but I couldn't tell what it was. It wasn't thunderous or anything. I call that Dudley Boyz '01 heat. Anyway, when he heeled it up for the little Cena back and forth, that was nice, but so what? Y'all still hype off that Marky Mark line?

Christian @ one point in time was coming up doin his shyt solid (b4 his release), but then he got fed up for not getting that pushed to the moon booking and D I P P E D to Impact.

idk (guessing) if he stuck around longer than he did and kept bytching @ the office to get him over and maybe having Edge (his homie, who was doin big shyt in the E during that time) also bytching at the office to put him on as champ things may be different.

Edge wasn't more over or popular than Christian until Lita and him got exposed for cheating on little Matt Hardy.

Christian on a singles run was until '03 and didn't really pick up steam until '04. Edge was over long prior to that. He was actually falling off in '04 when Christian was just getting into his stride. Then the Matt shyt happened and put Edge back over. But Edge was able to maintain that after the initial heat that came from it. Matt was unable to maintain the popularity it got for him. Meanwhile, Christian's push pretty much passed after they did the Cena angle. I do think Christian should've at least been given a chance at something of merit in '05 though. He was right there on SD with Mysterio, Eddie, Benoit, etc... I always thought at least a US title feud with Benoit woulda been a good look but they literally had him doing next to nothing after they moved him.

Christian got heat for turning against Edge in '01, and after that? Nada. A crying gimmick where he was losing matches and throwing tantrums. A whole 2002 of doing a bunch of crap (Un-Americans? ) until pairing up with Jericho later in the year. 2003 was a year he took off, interacting with Rock, Austin, Jericho, etc... then in '04 with Trish and the Jericho feud. Then, he got injured and didn't do much for the rest of that year, then you have the Cena shyt in '05. So yeah, any time before '03, Christian as a singles star wasn't quite cuttin' it.

Edge was definitely over from King of The Ring '01 until he got injured and had to leave in '03. He wasn't about shyt in '04, then the build towards MITB at Mania and the Lita shyt happened in '05.

Nowhere in my post did I say Edge was the MOST over on the roster, but hell if he wasn't over. You said he wasn't popular. I said he was... not Lesnar or RVD popular, but he was popular. You actin' like the dude was Scotty 2 Hotty status in '02 or some shyt.

Christian in '02 was a lackey to TEST. That's about as weak as it gets. I'm not discounting the dude's in-ring work, but as an all-around star ready to be pushed further? He wasn't there yet.
