OP do you realize how much it is to fix your teeth. Folks don't even have money to fix their car let alone their teeth. The shyt insurance doesn't even cover shyt but pulling bad teeth, cleanings and cavities repair.

My boy paid 20k to get a venear and 2 implants.

Hell I know a couple that went to mexico to get dental work cause the crooked dentists in the states were gonna charge them 70k for the work that they paid 10k for in mexico.

I had braces and invisalign.

I realize how.much it is. But i also realize its probably 1/4th the cost it was 15 years ago and going down.

I understand its expensive as hell, but... i dunno... couldnt be me. Maybe im just insecure

That ain't enough, from experience with my kids, a single procedure with only a few teeth in comparison is close to $8k after insurance. These are baby teeth too breh, not adult ones smfh...

Most people don't have that kind of bread just laying around.

Exactly. Most dental insurance covers nothing. Thats why if you ever go to tijuana you will see a shyt load of americans going there for dental work.

I think there is a stigma against dentists about the pain and discomfort from adults thinking back to when they were kids. Lots of adults still have a huge fear of needles and that drill. Dental tech has come a loooooooong way since the 70s/80s. Ive seen people go in, get 2-3 extractions and go on about their day. Bridges and fillings look a lot better. No more metal fillings, not theyre tooth colored. Implants are the only real monster procedure these days and those are so expensive its not really in the budget for most people.

To answer your question though OP, I think health overall isn't seen as the priority it should be

Fool, you a dentist? Hook me up with some braces I’m tryna get rid of this crossbite. :ohhh:

Well to answer your question. I currently need to pay 25,000$ for jaw surgery before they even put my braces on. And I have a slight underbite. Then the braces are another 8000$. Does that answer your question a$$hole?

OP..

Lime others have stated, the costs associated with getting one's teeth fixed may be too expensive for many people.

Even with those who have insurance, most coverages have a cap, so once that cap is exhausted, then the patient is responsible for he rest of the costs.

As for pain, a skilled dentist can minimize the pain. I have had numerous procedures done and although I have experienced mild discomfort, it really wasn't too bad. Surprisingly, when I had my implants done, it really did not hurt. My periodontist is very skilled, it took him 30 mins to insert my implants! Really fast! I am due for another implant and will have similar results..

I agree that those who can afford to get their teeth fixed should do so, but I also understand why some to many people don't do it.

Gawddamn is that WITH insurance???:picard:

I am sure cause basically insurance considers that cosmetic. They do not cover cosmetic surgery which that is considered.

Its the same thing if you got a cyst growing out your body. The insurance will only cover the removal if it is cancerous, a danger to your health or extremely painful.

Folks fail to understand that insurance is a hustle. You need it but the shyt is a hustle.

Getting braces in march. Just applied for carecredit and asked for 8k for braces. If i pay it off in 24 months, there is no interest.

Im 38. Invest in yourself. Ive always had money but wasted it because spending 8k to 10k at once seemed like a lot...while i probably spend shyt load when going out n treating friends

18 to 22 months of being an adult metal mouth

Yup, and the sad fact of the matter is that dental and vision are the first on the chopping block for 90% of people and their plan renewals. So when something major happens, you shyt out of luck :francis:

I see from the responses that the main hangup is still the cost.

Honeslty i hope thr cost can down significantly because its something that greatly impacts how others see you

Yep all this. The cap is really shyt cause it only covers between 1500 to 2500. So lets say you need a tooth extracted and then bridge work or a dental implant and crown.

The insurance will only cover the tooth extraction and the crown. Not the implant or bone graft (which you may need for the implant). But wait their is more. The tooth extraction may cost 2500 and the crown may cost 1500 and the implant and surgey may cost 5000. So that means you on the hook for 6500 with the insurance.

And that ain't including if they say you need to see a specialist which is another fee or deep cleaning before the implant which is another fee or bone grafting which is another fee

shyt could cost you 10k out of pocket just getting one tooth removed, bone grafting, implant and crown.

I think my ex left me because of my teeth are not perfect

Sista you fine. Your man didn't leave you cause your teeth ain't perfect. A man will leave they old lady if they snaggle toof or they missing a leg or they a midget. A man ain't leaving you cause you got one crooked tooth.

If he broke up with you cause if one crooked tooth that boy crazy.
