Not an expert, but they went from Twist and Shout to Yesterday. And then they started getting into more psychedelic rock sounds.

Also, a lot of white artists that start with Black music, eventually transition out.
  • Beatles
  • Stones
  • Everlast
  • Rick Rubin
  • Miley Cyrus
  • Justin Timberlake
  • Post Malone
Do not be surprised if Eminem puts out a non-rap record, if he hasn't already.
I don't think Stones or Beatles transitioned out.

Stones is most famous and best known for their blues rock and Beatles was doing blues songs in their later years. John Lennon especially kept his blues influence in his solo work.

You can see Mick Jaeggar attend an Aretha Franklin live concert and that was in the 70's.

I can’t imagine Eminem ever giving up on hip hop

Elvis ain't got nothing on The Beatles. Generations impacted by their music.

Beatles popularized and revolutionized music production techniques like sampling.

Elvis bit and did nothing else.

Beatles were so popular they were afforded the ability to experiment to do whatever the fukk they wanted and gave back to music in spades.

Elvis doesn't have a single song as good as this.

The King of Rock title most definitely does not go to Elvis

The bulk of his music is either movie soundtracks or ballads/AOR stuff

He just gave up in 1970, right before that he had momentum

Plus all of his cover art was MS Paint levels of lazy too

Elvis' music is more dated by modern standards than most Beatles music. You can hear Beatles-esque influence in more music over the last few decades than Elvis, and people naturally go back and listen to the inspiration. If you're some kid who liked Coldplay when they were relevant...you're probably gonna like the Beatles, and it's just a matter of time before you go back and listen.

They also had some wildly forward leaning music. Imagine listening to this in 1966 and having no concept of what a "sample" is, or the studio effects. You can trace about 15 years of music production, psychedelic rock, and studio gimmicks to this.

Listen to music before The Beatles, then listen to music after The Beatles. That's why. Say what you want about them, but The Beatles practically created modern music. It's like how The Simpsons influenced modern humor. Watch The Simpsons in its golden years and you'll see just how far ahead of the curb it was compared to other TV comedies of its time.
