I used to do tons of dips on tricep day. I would do weighted dips and body-weight only dips.
Now, I can't do it at all. My shoulder is damaged on the inside. :flabbynsick: The saddest is when you can't do an exercise not because you don't want to, but because you can't.

I still do pull-ups. that's my main back workout. I mix up narrow grip and wide grip.
Sometimes, I'll change it up and do bent-over barbell rows or cable rows.
:( How did you damage your shoulder?

:( How did you damage your shoulder?
Super long time ago, I injured it throwing a tennis racket at a fence. Something popped on the inside. I let it rest. The pain eventually went away. 20 years later, I get a labral tear. It eventually broke. I got surgery for it.
I didn't know it at the time but I had partially torn my labrum. In the meantime while my shoulder felt fine, I was wearing away cartilage in the shoulder doing heavy dips and bench presses. I would put on 90 to 115 lbs. on a dip belt. I would never be able to go over 275 lbs on bench press. Something would get inflammed. I would get cortisone shot, then, I would start building up my one rep max and it would happen again at 275 lbs. Never could hit 280 lbs.
Anyway, weighted dips would get my triceps looking like an NFL lineman triceps. Bulging out without even flexing.

So. Cal
I do 15 pull ups every day before i leave the house. On upper body day, i do 3 sets of 20. I do 50 to failure dips on upper body day(minimum of 50).

Love dips but hate pull ups. Even though i can do variety of pull ups and mass quantity, it still takes a lot of energy to them and i dread them. Im tired by half of my second set. If it wasnt such an effective workout, id bushed them long ago.

This is real shyt. I thought people just "said this" to say it, but now I am noticing every time I hit the pull up jungle gym shyt people look at me crazy. I think to myself, "Dude you're bigger than me, this should be easy for you" but it's true, a lot of these big folks can't lift their own weight.

I started with pull ups and push ups. Functional strength is paramount..

:youngsabo:Guess what number damn one is? Ain’t squats or deads

:ohhh: Makes sense though. Especially if you can do them explosively.

Wanna start back doing pullups/chinups but I'm normally fried after my barbell stuff now.

Only people I see in the gym doing pull-ups are really lean brehs, or dudes with big upper bodies but relatively small legs. Long arms, plus short upper body plus long/big legs sucks azz for pullups. However, I still do them.......like 2 at a time :russ:
