Of course the ATL
Their are different radio formats like Pop, Rhythmic, Urban, R&B, Top 40, Oldies. These stations aren't based off of race, they're based on a specific style of music & are then geared toward a target demographic.

Contemporary Hit Radio-Pop. Also is referred to as top 40 or pop. Playlists include new cutting edge music, current hits and popular hits of the last 6 to 12 months. The target audience is young adult and adults ages 15 to 30.

CHR-rhythmic
Playlists include a lean toward more hip-hop, rap and dance songs, (rather than rock and alternative). Play lists consist of new cutting edge music, current hits and popular hits of the last 6 to 12 months. The target audience is also people 15 to 30 years of age.

CHR-dance
Sometime referred to simply a dance, playlists include a slant toward dance hits and dance remixes of popular songs. Play lists consist of new cutting edge music, current hits and popular hits of the last couple of years. The target audience is also people 15 to 30 years of age.

Urban contemporary

Listed simply as "urban" and also known as R&B (rhythm and blues), the urban contemporary musical genre reflects a large number of black music recording artists with such music as rap, hip-hop, house, soul and new artists. Urban formats are generally aimed at younger audiences.

Urban ac
Urban ac stations are aimed at an older audience. Play lists found on these stations are more soul, ballads and less rap and hip-hop music.

Rhythmic oldies
Sometimes nicknamed jammin' oldies, this format includes playlists of urban oldies, Motown hits, and a number of upbeat disco and dance retro hits of the late 70's, 80's and early 90's.

Urban oldies
This genre features black music recording artists such as Motown from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

@PhonZhi to answer your question, Jason Derulo makes music that falls into the CHR category based on the style & sound of the music. By these definitions Aloe could fall into some of the urban categories even tho stylistically he'd be more inclined to be on a playlist with oldies R&B

yup. Aloe Blacc and MIguel all over the record before they blew. and then they stopped working with blu :mjcry:

Below the Heavens is one of my fav albums. Dropped in like 07-08 so i had no idea who Aloe Blak was besides the mentions on that album. Then those headphone commercials blew up and i was like:ohhh: aint "aloe blak" the dude shouted out on Blu album? I always meant to make a thread asking why Miguel seemed to have "forgot" about Blu after he blew up

Honestly I can't say I blame them for not working with Blu. I'm sure trying to work with a junkie has to be not only a challenge, but also very depressing. With that said time to put on Below the Heavens at work and zone out.

I hope since the Beats commercial you have gone back and checked out Aloe's work. First time I heard "I Need a Dollar" on the opening credits for How to Make it in America I knew I'd be a huge fan. Even used "Mama Hold My Hand" as my song to dance with my mom at my wedding.

His "sound" (which is overall pleasant and non threatening) is deemed corny to black people. We have been conditioned this way. A poster named @Insensitive in another thread JUST told me its lame for black people to listen to Bruno Mars. See? We've been engineered for 400+ years to reject anything "positive" sounding. Thats why we are so drawn to the dark, demonic sounding trap sound.
:dahell:
I didn't say it was "Corny to listen to Bruno Mars".
I said you have shyt taste in Hip Hop and you consistently show us that
so maybe you should STICK TO Bruno Mars.

Jesus you're a clown :dead:
I'm black, I don't just listen to "trap songs", again, if you wanna go
collection vs. collection, I guarantee my music collection is seeing yours.
