I've heard that "Talk Dirty To Me" on our "urban" stations, can't say I've heard Aloe Blacc, but they do play the "Latch" joint with Sam Smith and Katy Perry "Dark Horse" a whole lot on Hot97 and Power though.

Basically the more :demonic: sounding the beat is, it"ll get urban play. Pop stations play more upbeat, friendly tones.

Nah, black artists can't be on that positive tip anymore, unless you one of the #newblack movement like Pharell. We gotta be making some hard ass 808s and :demonic: messages

They'll play that one Lorde song because the bass is more in tune with what people want to hear I guess. It's crazy that regular r&b like Aloe Blac doesn't get spins on urban radio tho, whereas pop stations play him. The entire radio game is fukked up. Thank god it's dying.

Basically. And this isn't new.

- when "I Wanna Sex You Up" came out, they had two versions. One with the high voice dude on lead for the pop stations,
and one with Bryan with the strong vocals and runs for the urban stations.

- at my job the other day, the hold music was Jody Watley "Don't You Want Me" which is a regular 80s poppy type song.
But on the urban radio stations, the song had a funky synth riff added to it.
