TYRONE GA!
Cause everyone fell for the Sony propaganda

"Oh we have the EMOTION engine and Metal Gear Solid 2 that won't come out till late 2001" Back in 2000, when the PS2 launch was piss poor and DC had games out the ass.

Gamers, until recently, thought that Sony will be eternal kings with franchises that was heavy on cinematics and movie production values while gameplay was 2nd, made the gaming community pass up on a great paradigm that SEGA was promoting with DC.

20 some-odd years later, most of those 3rd party companies down with the PS2 don't even exist anymore. That decision the general casual gamer did, killed creativity in the long term.

yall nikkaz really hate Sony instead of telling Sega to look in the mirror. Always easier to pass the buck and blame others when it was Sega own damn fault.

Old School Players to New School Fools
It was not down to quality of games.. the games were amazing and pound for pound both the Saturn and Dreamcast had an incredible line up which was way better than Sony’s even Nintendos..
It was ALL down to marketing.
Sony marketed in mens magazines and brought in a whole new demographic to gaming. 21-40 year olds.
To those 21-40 year olds Sega and Nintendo did not exist which killed Sega off.
We still live in that age today. Nintendo survived JUST because without Sega they had no completion in the kids section.
PS Microsoft stepped in and followed Sonys blueprint.

(With disclaimer.. Breath of the Wild is best game ever)

Dreamcast was an amazing system but when the came out with it, Sega was basically on its last legs. Sega had basically botched all their moves from the Genesis on out and lost a lot of 3rd parties in the process. The Dreamcast's hardware could have kept up with Sony, but Sony already had the market share and way more money to spend. People say not getting EA hurt them but the NFL and NBA 2k games were better than anything EA was putting out at the time.

Sega of America CEO drove the company into the ground
it was nothing wrong with their consoles or games.

Microsoft should just buy Sega and have them make a new console, and first party games, and they would destroy Sony

Sony only beat them and Nintendo because of money, Sega was always for hardcore gamers, Nintendo catered to kids that's why they were able to survive with the hand held market

The Sega Saturn had system memory like modern consoles, it could connect to the internet, and a feature no other system has had since, you could add ram to the system via cartridge to make it run games like the arcade

Dreamcast had windows on it, better internet, online play, Sega were always the innovators in gaming and can be again they just need the money

Wrong(as usual with you) It’s well know Sega of Japan wanted the launch of the Saturn moved from Sept to spring of 95 to get ahead of the PlayStation. That surprise E3 announcement and shipping immediately after it pissed everyone off from devs(who were obviously still working on titles) to retailers who were caught off guard and had to create advertisments, shelf space, etc.

LOL@Microsft(who are clearly transitioning to subscription based gaming) commissioning Sega to make a console with first party titles. They couldn’t even do that back then when shyt like Sonic, VF, etc. You think they would crush Sony with Horizon, GOW, and other household franchise on deck? :mjlol:

I will agree they were innovative with their design and feature choice in their consoles but it was all a waste of money back then considering most people were computer illiterate and the internet wasn’t that accessible yet
