Why did Kendrick play it safe with " We hate Po Po" line in Grammy performance?

Kendrick is in the good graces of white people at the moment.

He's conscious but safe enough. Like beyonce's formation video and super bowl performance saying "AND WE HATE POPO! WHEN THEY KILL US DEAD IN THE STREETS FA SHO!" at the Grammys would be his Beyonce super bowl moment that would ruin his reputation amongst white people. The point of no return.

Right...:mjpls:.

No really, I agree.

theres a difference between being a buzzkill and being a realist, u nikkas gas and over analyze everything kendrick does then make excuses when he hides his tail
I didn't know it affected your day to day activities like that? breathe nikka

It was a dope performance nothing more

The irony of you talking about over analyzing when this entire thread is the epitome of that, yall kill me with this fake outrage

Mad over silly hyperbole and shyt :mjlol:

At the end of the day tho nikka...

I agree that's why people need to stop trying to force him to be that and just be kendrick.

Pro-black Hotep nikkas on instagram keep wanting him to be the hip-hop farrakhan and that's just not who he wants to be and people need to respect that.
Exactly!!!. He is pro black and loves the culture and celebrates it as he see's it in his music. That's what he wants to do. I'm tired of all these people online demanding artists fight for a cause they want and how they want. Kendrick is an artists and his own man. It's sad to see grown men cry on the internet about another man's actions that would have zero effect on their lives.

It's time for brehs to grow up.

Kendrick was never someone that struck me as sincere about that ish anyway so can't say I'm suprised. I guess that's 1 of the reasons I'm not a fan, his music feels a bit gimmicky and contrived to me at times. GKMC and TPAB. I just feel that lane has been done and is being done better so I can't feel it like that. I still appreciate the sentiment of Complextion though regardless.
how can he not be sincere when he has been in that lane since section 80. It seem GKMC did more harm than good as far as rep. TPAB got people thinking he switched it up completely

I will say him switching the lyrics up was some sucker shyt. I still salute him for being one of the only mainstream cats to put a pro black message in his rhymes

That performance was basically the moment you decide if you wanna bust raw in a female. Them repercussions wasn't something he wanted parts of. I get your point about people wanting him to be a certain way tho. Name me a good reason why he decided not to say the line?

The funny thing about all this is the song is mostly about the ironic thinking we go through before committing suicide.

I don't even think he really intended the song to be a "pro black" anthem

But people made it out to be that and he just went with it :manny:
