Here in Ny most movie theaters had the latest joints Sf2 champion edition turtles in time the xmen joint cruisin usa. Nathans in yonkers had a big ass arcade too and everybody had their birthday there.

Atlantic city had a big ass arcade in the mall back in the 90's too. My grandparents would win in the casino and break us off like $100 in quarters.

Guess the arcades fought obesity too cause nikkas had to get them squats in standing at a game for hours these nikkas online got a game chair with nacho bowls built in

Why would you want to get ripped off, not get your money's worth and have to rub elbows with strangers? :scusthov:

If you want arcade-style games, there's plenty of stuff through PS/Xbox/Steam/etc. Roms too. :scheme:

All i know is i use to get that work on Street Fighter and MK in the arcades.

But when i got it for SNES and Genesis i gave everyone that work.

Dudes that got down in the Arcades back then had crazy skills and were not your average "gamer" like today.

And just think they had no internet to help them gain a advantage or refine their skills. :mindblown:

Still amazes me today.

We used to catch the bus or walk to the arcade as kids. Makes no sense to do something like that now, but I wouldn't trade them times to be a kid in this technologically superior era.
And what about the dying of comic book stores? We would hit the arcade then shoot over to get comics. They are still around and not dead like arcades, but they are not nearly as abundant as the 90's. Remember when you could even get comics at 7-Eleven and pharmacies?

nikkas talking about the Dreamcast kill the arcades. :dahell: How old are y'all nikkas?

The Sega Genesis is what kill the arcades back in the early 90's. Every arcade game became playable on a home console.

The arcades was already completely dead :rip: by the time the Dreamcast came out in 1999.

Nah cuz. You weren't getting an arcade perfect Virtua Fighter on the Genesis...The shyt looked and played like ass compared to the arcade version and everyone knew it. You weren't getting "near" arcade perfect ports of fighters and other games until PS1 and Sega Saturn hit the scene. The closest we got to arcade perfect ports were games like Street Fighter Vs Xmen and Marvel Superheroes on the Sega Saturn and Tekken 1 on the PS1.

The Dreamcast was the nail in the coffin because titles newer titles like Soul Calibur weren't possible on the the PS1 or Saturn. So yes, the Dreamcast killed the arcade scene...Not the goddamn Sega Genesis.

Up in Dragon's Den. My pops was a garbage man 30+ years and was cool with all these store owners so one day when i was in like 6th grade he came home with a big ass bag from one of the comic shops but i never opened it til 9th grade.

I had all the infinity gauntlet books. Xcutioners song, x force, a few 1st appearances. I had the guy at The Den so thirsty i said fukk that and took the comics home to research what i had. I almost got jerked

Virtua Fighter came out in 1994 and was on the Sega Saturn in 1994.

Sega Genesis was the first console where you could play arcade games. From there on the arcade games was always playable in the advancement of next generational consoles.

Remember Virtua Fighter was made by Sega. Sega started putting all their arcade games on their consoles. From Genesis, Saturn, to Dreamcast.

Virtua Fighter 1,2,3, was on the Saturn. When Sega was able to improve the graphics of Virtua Fighter ,is when Virtua Fighter 4 & 5 was on the Dreamcast.

You acting like arcade games had Dreamcast graphics back in 1992. :heh:

Both Arcade and Saturn

Yea, I knew VF came out first on the Saturn, but I was just going after your point about the genesis being the console that shut down the arcades. My point was ports of VF2 on the Genesis were not doing that...Only when the Saturn and PS1 came around did the tide start to turn with arcade titles being almost perfect on consoles. Which brings me back to my original point, the Dreamcast shut the door for good when we got titles that looked even BETTER than their arcade counterparts, like in the case of Soul Calibur.

To summarize, in my opinion...The Saturn started the near console perfect ports, but because it didn't do good here in the US, the arcade scene was still poppin' until the Dreamcast came along and shut it down for good. Now I'm not gonna act like the Dreamcast was some major seller...but it at least had a big spark when it started and gave us better versions of arcade titles.

My family didnt have as much when I was growing up so we'd probably on get like 5 dollars a piece to go to the arcade. After a while that shyt wasn't lasting

Marvel vs. Capcom 1: 0.25:ehh:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: 0.50 :manny:

Tekken: 0.50 :yeshrug:

Virtua fighter: 1.00 :stopitslime:

Can't remember but I'm pretty sure time crisis was like 1.00:usure:

Most good racing games where the string wheel wasn't all loose and shyt was like 1.00:beli:

NBA jam (that 3d one): was like 0.75 and I don't think you played the whole game either
( it been so long I could be wrong) :leostare:

Blitz: :comeon: fukk it, I was playing blitz:gladbron:

Don't even try a beat 'em up by ya damn self

I miss the arcade but they was ripping us broke hommies off. :wow:
Tekken was my favorite and I would be on that shyt all day making people furious. I'm pretty sure time crisis was 1.00 cause my cousin always wanted to play that and I would just look like:comeon:. It was a fun but there was games just as fun for way less.

I would always play alone on the beat 'em ups to challenge myself.

NBA Jam TE started that BS that you had to pay for each quarter...a young dude was making these big life decisions to play NBA Jam TE for $1 or just play the first quarter and grab a soda with my slice of pizza :wow:
