A lot of ppl on here aren't gonna wanna hear this but, if you as a black man (or woman, but especially a man) do not know how to legally generate income outside of your job, you need to learn how and quickly. I've been saying this for years. Black americans are behind everyone else when it comes to this.

For a lot of cats, if you got unexpectedly laid off tomorrow, you wouldn't even know how to LEGALLY generate income yourself. The only way you know how to feed yourself is if a white person decides to give you a job. That's way too dependent. I've even seen dudes in their 40s or 50s that got laid off and had no income until another job finally hired them. How do you not know how to make money outside of that "job"? Even right now, you should have AT LEAST one stream of income outside of your job. I have multiple streams of income because i love money that much.

If you have internet access you should be able to figure out how, no excuses. nikkas know how to get on Twitter and IG and gossip about dumb shyt all night, know how to score high on 2K, etc but wouldn't know how to generate their own income if they suddenly lose their job....its pathetic...especially since they see nothing wrong with that

As a collective we are too dependent on these "jobs" from white employers, even those of us who chose good majors. Of course i do think we need more lawyers, doctors, etc. But what i see overall is that regardless of job or career choice, a lot of us do not know how to make money independently. We rely too much on white ppl to give us jobs. The fukked up part is most of the nikkas who actually do know how to generate their own income are doing it by selling drugs instead of through a business or actually being self employed.

This is the old narrative of get your own business blah blah blah. Fact is no matter what race the majority of people would be fukked if they got laid off. Some people like myself included don't have or want the entrepreneur spirit. So they work. People got to do what works for them. I'd never push any body into something they know they aren't good at.

I'm in a profession that rarely gets laid off and is always needed. Plus I save and invest for a rainy day.

That's why hood nikkas stay in jail or killed. Good stay trapping. More upstanding black people can get jobs.
I do IT work now. That thread in higher learning got me into it. The money I made gave me a nice cushion. I'm not making no bread at the help desk position I'm at now but I'm getting experience and free training. It works out. I used the game, I didn't let it use me. Get in Get out is the motto the Ogz laid down. I just followed the blueprint that was laid down before me. I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel. These new nikkas get checked out the game because they want to play by their own rules or none at all. The game is simple. Alot of it is just common sense and not being sloppy. Its like giving away a basketball game by commiting unforced turnovers. Social media, pillow talking, unnecessary violence, stunting in rentals, all unforced turnovers.

so how did you get out?
what would you do differently?
ever been close to getting caught?
craziest shyt you seen?
I was lucky to have no debt. And just let them keep what they owed me and some. A part of me wouldn't do anything different because Im starting to love the man I become and without those experiences I wouldn't be me. On the flip side I wish I found a mentor when I was younger. Everybody would show interest in me for a few weeks and disappear:wow: I really regret not living up to my potential and going away to college and just enjoying youth the right way. But alot was out of my control. I was just a kid trying to figure it out on my own. I didn't have much support. I got in the game because I wanted things that all the suburban kids had but I just didn't know how to go about doing it the right way. Not in a materialistic sense because I had all the latest and greatest in high school and I was still miserable. I just wanted happiness and the ability to be free and travel the world. Through all the shootouts, bloodshed, county bids, and bs that comes with it that's really all most brothers want. We just don't have no role models to guide us. Closest I ever came to getting caught was when I had a pack delivered to a spot and when I went to get it the feds beat me to it. But those brothers stayed strong and held it down. The thing is I never left a paper trail or digital footprint. I was extremely meticulous and careful about how I used technology and spent money. I was obsessed with staying elusive to the point we're my family thought I was crazy. The thing is everything has to make sense in how you spend money. For ever illegal dollar you make. You have to make 3 legals one to stay ahead. I've seen some stuff that would give you nightmares. Alot of things you hear about that seem random are made to look that way if you catch my drift. It's not as dramatic as you may think. People just turn up missing never to be heard from. I tried not to concern myself with things like that. If you let that consume you eventually it would happen to you. My motto was do business the right way and treat people fairly and with respect and those things won't happen. That could but it won't be from an unforced turnover.

Sound Reasoning
Ok, let's say all black people who went to college studied nothing but STEM and other "high paying" majors.

What economy do black people own that can employ these people in said "high paying" jobs? :jbhmm:

What economy do black people own that can employ black people in "low paying" jobs? :skip:

Do you think non-black people are bursting at the seems to hire a bunch of black people with "high paying" degrees? Over their own people? Even if their own people are less qualified? :heh:

Black people need trained professionals in ALL FIELDS.....not just STEM. We need everything a society needs to function. That means we need teachers, social workers, STEM, oceanographers, doctors, lawyers, etc. We also need trades people who can build the infrastructure we need.

But in order to properly use those professionals, we need to be building an economy in order to put those people to work :comeon:

Otherwise, you'll just have more of the same. A bunch of black people with college degrees trying to complete against non-black people for jobs held at non-black corporations with non-black people deciding who gets what job. And when they do give a FEW black people jobs, they underpay them in comparison to their non-black co-workers.

And with their underpaid ass, looking down their noses at other underpaid black people without their brand of college degrees

No different than a house slave looking down on the field slave....all while forgetting that he's still a slave on the same plantation :mjlol:

Peace

There's a lot that I could say about this subject, but I won't....

I hear what the OP is saying, and I get it. But let's not paint STEMs as the yellow brick road to success...truth be told, unless you have a true aptitude for mathematics, anything below a 3.0 (or a 3.5 for some jobs) will basically take you out of any competitive jobs to begin with.

A social work degree by comparison, may be easier to some extent, but for the most part that student is more likely to be academically prepared and credible to their field of work with a higher GPA...giving themselves more choices for a job in their field and giving themselves more of a chance to further their education in that very field.

I honestly can't think of a job with applied mathematics where they would hire you fresh out of college with a 2.5 GPA let alone a grad program that would accept them.
