TYRONE GA!
Part of the problem is that you think that you can be your jersey, timbs, and snapback urban self in an environment that sees that as foreign, inferior, and not a “good fit”.

So this is a "standard" black man? :mjpls:

I’ma give you some tips to get in most, if not all white collar office jobs as a black man breh:

1. Take as much bass out of your voice as possible, try and sound as close to a woman or rupaul as humanly possible because you don’t want cacs to think you’re an “aggressive black man”

2. Find the tightest suit from TjMaxx’s fall collection you can possible find because loose baggy clothes are too urban

3. Practice bein a cac suck ass. Like on some military sir yes sir shyt but as a civilian. Get as much shyt on your nose as you possible can, visualize your face in between musty ass cheeks of a obese cac with a lot of cats named Becky.

4. Being :flabbynsick:, fat and/or gay is always a plus because your aren’t a threat and unassuming

5. Be able to discuss “post racial” societies, know taylor swifts entire discography, watch every season of friends, eat gluten free foods like bagels and shyt, and you have to love Starbucks ( if you get cops called on you just be calm and leave promptly, don’t make a scene because it could happen to anyone regardless of race ).

Anything else I can help you with just ask fam...

government jobs do extensive background checks and contact all your past employers
Not all of them, some of the smaller agencies/ offices only have one HR person who aint doing all that.

I got my first "real" job in part because I had my boy say that I did administrative bs for his defunct HVAC company. (I never worked for him) The HR person only cared about verifying my dates of employment. They didn’t ask about what type of work I did because the job required no experience beyond the degree.

You shouldn't have nothing to worry about unless you have a criminal history. :yeshrug:

The only thing they can get from past employers is if you worked there at the time periods that you put on the application.

Looks like I affiliated that with “urban”.

If you think urban = black, then that's on you. :yeshrug:

Additionally, if you read the OP, you would have saw that I was quoting directly from him.

Most white collar jobs are a result of hookups. More white men are in positions to hook people up, and obviously, they are hooking up their white friends. You also have white men who see themselves in other white male applicants. They will never look at one of us, and think, “Wow, Tyrone reminds me of myself at that age.”

Always "Tyrone"

The default name for brothers when discussing something hypothetically.

You made this long ass mess and didn't name any tangible skills.

You missed my most valid point that white collar jobs aren't willing to train. They want 3-5 years experience up front. Whereas, dozens of blue collar jobs are willing to pay you to be trained. Trucking jobs, installer jobs, plumbing etc. all willing to pay you to be trained and invest in you.

Get a degree in graphic design and wonder why you can't get a job brehs :mjlol:

I guess everyone is built for STEM jobs. :duck:I guess everyone has the capacity for a STEM degree. :duck:All of the cacs, Asians and Indians who were in my graphic design field at my school all got good graphic design jobs after graduation.

I personally believe if it's not Engineering, Technology, or Medicine you should pursue other endeavors especially as black men but I am curious what exactly did you learn in your curriculum and what kind of skills did you gain. I used to post on some forums and there were a bunch of guys absolutely beastly with Photoshop and Illustrator who never stepped foot in a classroom for it

Where do you get this notion that white collars jobs don’t train you? Actually, firms and corporations spend quite a lot of money on training which is why they want to ensure that they are bringing in the right people as they see it as an investment.

You bring in someone that is not a good fit who ends up leaving within a year or so and you just wasted resources on that individual when, if you had a better vetting process, you could have brought in someone more compatible.

Which I would agree with you, the barrier to entry is high because of that. In my field, entry level requires a minimum of a 3.3gpa, prior internship experience, as well as leadership experience in college. All of that for associate level work that a freshman in college can handle. 2nd and 3rd year is a different story but that’s where the on the job training comes into effect.
