Why are these music critics turning on Drake now?

I didn't hear his album yet and won't until it's on youtube or spotify, but he has never had high scores. Most pop people don't have highscores.

I don't think that score really matters.

Really, google some of you fave albums (by black people) from the 2000s and look at the score. It's usually in the 60s or low 70s

Because conceptual genius is not the same as mediocrity. Kendrick is an artist who pushed the envelolope.

Drake is an artist who failed to transcend himself or his previous effort. Like I said before he is a cliche artist and will onlg give the same song over and over again. It's decent music but it is not mindblowing or intricate. Even Cole knows the importance of recreating yourself and sound to keep the fans interested.

Cole's fhd has a lower score than drake's views. Just looked it up. Those scores don't matter.

The project has been hyped for 3 years as his magnum opus. Fresh off of a hit pop single, hit beef record, highly publicized Beef, hit mixtape, and a hit collab mixtape with one of hottest rappers in the game last year. Views was hyped for YEARS.

Its not that hard to believe that it sold what it did. But this was so supposed to be IT, not just good, but It. It was supposed to Be the project that cemented his legacy.

And it's not even a good project. It's not even better than any of his previous projects. He took a step back.

The initial hype is because of his fame. The same way that Summer Sixteen was a top 10 record but then faded away because it was a decent song at best.

This album was front loaded. He was gonna sell a bunch of records either way. But it won't have legs. Because it's not a great body of work.

TC had legs because it was a great body of work. This isn't.

Critics AND fans are bashing this album. Not just Critics.

Drake is a different type of artist

He's on the level of prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Adele, Beyoncé, ect.

They all get panned by the critics but the streets don't lie.

His albums sell 1 mil plus first week. Kenrick will never do over 300k first week, ever. Plus CACs are getting tired of kendrick and those are the only people who buy his albums.
