Nah he's right. Someone who critiques albums for a living like someone who critiques movies isn't about to just give everything a 9 out of 10.
Metacritic is a literally an aggregate of every site, and pop albums are formulaic and never receive high remarks. A 69 actually equates to generally favorable reviews on there. They used to give Beyonce's old shyt that. It's only now that she's receiving universal acclaim.
If people awarded Grammys based on metacritic scores then no one would be complaining about the Grammys, and people would actually watch them because there would be suspense.

Breh there ain't no way in hell you gone act like Drake doesn't obviously have a lot more white fans. A lot of his first week sales numbers are gonna come from tacking on that hotline bling as a bonus track anyway, so that's not impressive to me. What really matters is those week 2 numbers, cuz last time with WATTBA I believe they had a historically big drop from week one to the next. If your albums truly good, you're not gonna have such a huge drop in numbers.
Plus Adele & Beyoncé both just dropped albums with critical acclaim, so those prolly weren't the best examples. They've been able to still come out with new concepts,themes, etc whereas drake is still on his Take Care shyt. Closest he got to reinventing himself was with IYRTITL but as we all know, most of that was Quentin Miller

. I'm not one to give too much weight to critic reviews but an overwhelmingly positive response from multiple sources doesn't lie. Kendrick making some real art outchyea
