and how many of you muthafukkas watch colombian tv again? :stopitslime:

nikkas always talkin about some shyt like they know somethin. :snoop:

I used to watch city of men religiously when it was on air, downloaded all the series. it was an all black tv show. I watch several brazilian flicks, all which have black people. in fact the most famous brazilian actor is black. they are def under represented in novelas, but black people in america are under represented in soaps too. most blacks think they're watck and lame. I guess the ones down south do too. our women are too busy working, those shows are for rich white women who do fukk all during the day.
Here comes mr :cape:
I can guarantee you there's none of these black tv shows running right now...

No one in the world will agree with you African Americans are under represented on American television.

We are everywhere
Thats because we are and we know that since we ACTUALLY WATCH AMERICAN TV.

Again, name 5 colombian or brazilian movies you watch. because I've watched quite a few. South America is my second most visited continent.
Day time TV is one thing, movies and film and advertisement is another.

Honestly that's a great question, I want to get some books so I can learn about it. I have a good book about the whole Black diaspora but it doesn't go all the way in depth with regards to the spanish speaking Black people of the Americas.

George Reid Andrews is one of the premier writers in that sphere, if you want to read something thats more general I'd recommend this

Tho I might be able to make a recommendation on others if you wanted to know about Black people within a specific country. I still got that project comin for ya'll this year

its a false hope, black people will be more marginalized in latin american culture than in white american culture

what happened with the white washing of rock and roll is nothing compared to the white washing of salsa and merengue for example, which are just as black as rock, gospel and the blues

Sorry but u talking straight out of ur ass on that one. White salsa singers may be common because most are from puerto Rico, but merengue is definitely not white washed. I can't even think of any popular white merengue singers outside of Elvis Crespo and he was a 2 hit wonder.

Like I said, you don't have to go that far to see what Latin American TV is like, you just have to look at Spanish television here in the us and it's obvious that white American tv is more diverse than Latin American TV

And the whke notion of dismissing telenovelas is just :mjlol:

Telenovelas is what Latin America media is known far and they are wildly popular

Name what Latin American TV you watching. Are you talking about mexican? because the majority of their country is white and mestizo, not black.

What shows are these? where are you watching them?

Dismissing telenovelas is def accurate because even our soaps hardly have any black people. wtf. out of the dozen how many have black regulars? Ill wait.

So you are saying the only show that you can think with a lot of black GUESTS is a prison show, and a show about the ghetto :mjlol:

And you do realize that in the United States black people STAR in their own shows right, you are here bragging about guests

Why don't you tell us the black stars in Latin America that are versions of black American superstars

I'm talking about Univision and other Spanish channels, have you ever watched a Spanish channel in the us, and of course I'm including mexico, in Mexican tv everybody is white, there no mestizos and no Indians

I'm talking about just about every single show, there are hardly any black people and hardly any Indians in Spanish TV

Just about every American soap opera has a black couple, and telenovelas are known for having black actors as slaves and servants, for you to call that diversity is nutty, that's like saying gone with the wind was diverse because of maami

There is no logical reason to exclude telenovelas, when it's what Latin American TV is most famous for

What I want to know is how many black people have their own shows and movies, how many black directors are there?
