NEW YORK CITY
lmao i'm not even from NYC
but i wouldn't say black New York resembles London..the only part that resembles London would be the high West Indian population. but just like London and Toronto there's an increase in African immigration, a few decades and i wouldn't be surprised if African population outpaces the West Indian population (like London and Toronto)
sans Haiti and Guyana (many if not most of whom are Indo-Guyanese), there's been a decrease in West Indian migration to New York as most are going directly to suburbs, Florida, or elsewhere in the South. given the sheer amount of Nigerians that exist, i fully expect Nigerian Americans to start being a presence in every city.

the culture tho is NYC which all immigrant groups assimilate too, NYC doesn't have the same faux-Caribbean culture/slang like Toronto and London
i would argue
or wouldnt you argue that Brooklyn has a americo-west indian culture that rivals ldn and to

At the beginning of mean streets
that's what's up but we also do that. Y'all don't play spades.
What I'm trying to say is: We have a lot of cultural overlap, but there is a lil more to us because there are more of us...
like we contain certain aspects of "communal black culture"...our lil nuances are just off the chain, that's why nikkas copy.
I go outside and it looks like home sometimes. That's because of us influencing y'all...nikkas dressed like brehs up the block who can't even speak my language.
Cool.
It just don't work the other way. We don't really take on folks properties that easily...especially people we have zero interaction with.
Definitely know what you mean by nuances, it’s even what you done said previously “what that hittin fo” a lot of folks who might speak AAVE won’t use those little nuances because it’s an exclusive thing.

I definitely know East Coast AAs have adapted or used to adapt Patois

Vexed, batty boy, are a few example of NYC slang that clearly trace influence from Patois.
yeah but most ny slang is not from Patois
Dudes from London and Toronto literally speak garbled Patois as their slang
i would argue

NYC has the AA and Latin influence that Toronto and London lack
Only in the US do you have the full Caribbean diaspora in large numbers

London and Toronto people don’t know what chocha, dique, vagabond, zoe etc. mean

@I Really Mean It

Do you understand why white women, white American and Anglo-Saxon women specifically, are liked upon add the standard for beauty and culture all around the world by all ethnicities from Black African to Asians, Indians, middle easterns and even other far Eastern European whites?

Because of a steady diet of propaganda fed around the globe for multiple centuries, from media to even religious deification of the white Jesus and white Mary, setting white people as the standard against which beauty is judged. It's not complicated.

Ok... But what was the driving mechanism? Focus on modern times say 20th and 21st century. How's that message continuously delivered?

black people always going to be some divisive shyt because of these types of threads. got nikkas thinking they better than someone else because of where they were born. You dont get points for that my g :francis: we should be focusing on how to get together and represent properly instead of playing these cafeteria highshool games.

"yall dont play spades!!!!:pachaha:" lol clowns
