I'm Canadian and I get what the OP is saying. I live in LA a few months out of the year and when I meet someone from Canada half the time they are on some shyt but then again you gotta be Kinda different to leave country you grew up in and everybody you know. Most black people in the states got that never left my block swag.

I've written here before that Black men who wear mustaches and facial hair are common in America and it is rare for Blacks in the other parts of the diaspora or on the continent.
And the metric system.Only time we use the word kilogram here is talking about crime.

Everyone rocks a beard here since drakes glow up. And I was referring to a Canadian in the states...they would be normal at home.

because like I said earlier that's they kinfolk and relatives ( West Indians and Africans) over there who they share culture similarities with. So they normally don't get outta pocket with each other as they would to us black Americans, not including their cousins and family in the US (who are also west Indians and Africans)who they have no blood ties with, so it's easier for them to squad up and challenge us, which I embrace and don't mind btw( but as long as it's respectful on both sides or else im good)

I haven't been to NYC since I was a kid so I'll report on the Black American and Black Canadian difference when I venture into NYC this summer.

Well from my understanding of some of posters from there, NYC is basically turning into London culture wise with the migration of foreign blacks there and the migration of African Americans to other places, like the south. I don't know how true that is but that's what many people online tell me. @Dip can explain it better than I can

but i wouldn't say black New York resembles London..the only part that resembles London would be the high West Indian population. but just like London and Toronto there's an increase in African immigration, a few decades and i wouldn't be surprised if African population outpaces the West Indian population (like London and Toronto)
sans Haiti and Guyana (many if not most of whom are Indo-Guyanese), there's been a decrease in West Indian migration to New York as most are going directly to suburbs, Florida, or elsewhere in the South. given the sheer amount of Nigerians that exist, i fully expect Nigerian Americans to start being a presence in every city.

the culture tho is NYC which all immigrant groups assimilate too, NYC doesn't have the same faux-Caribbean culture/slang like Toronto and London

Yeah that's what I meant I just worded it wrong and I totally agree with when it comes to nigerians. I'm starting to see numbers of them along with other west and east Africans even in my city which is memphis, they really get around.
